As a working mom, I feel guilty more often than I’d like to admit. The tug between motherhood, career, and community work can feel relentless sometimes. But in that small moment, I was reminded that our children are always watching, not just for how present we are, but for what we stand for.
I hope Maya grows up knowing that women are allowed to be both soft and ambitious. Present and passionate. Loving at home while still making space to impact the world beyond it ❤️ I did this segment with with:) Kari, I see you too 🫶🏻
So I invited them for a Hi Tea Afternoon at and surprised them with flower money bouquets 💐
This moment belongs to the women who shaped me in quiet, powerful ways.
To my mother- steady, courageous, the first place I ever learned what love feels like.
To Aunty Jenny- who held me in the spaces where I needed an aunty-confidant most.
To my Godmother Sarah- who guided me through the vulnerable, forming years and never let me feel alone.
You didn’t just raise me.
You witnessed me, protected me, softened me, and strengthened me all at once.
Every part of who I am carries your fingerprints.
Every step I take echoes something you once taught me.
Thank you for loving me through every version of myself… and for walking beside me in this life, again and again ❤️
Special thanks to my cousin, Shirley and Michelle at MFlorist who handcrafted these beautiful bouquets 💐 #mothersday
For the past month, I’ve been in full “strong” mode… holding, supporting, regulating, teaching, giving back, showing up. Quietly running on empty. Sleeping 4-5 hours a night, feeling the stress slowly seep into places I couldn’t ignore anymore.
And then something in me said, enough.
So I listened.
I gave myself permission to step away… not because I was weak, but because I wanted to keep being strong for the people I love.
So this week, I planned a trip close to home to slow down my nervous system. I regulated. I snorkeled for the first time in my life. I learned how to swim after almost drowning at 6.
And somewhere between the waves and the silence, I found myself again.
I decided to splurge at a supposedly award-winning 5-star resort at, and boy was it an experience. I booked the best villa with a breathtaking view, and experienced an incredible dining and excursion staff (thank you for being incredible)
And yet, for a 5-star resort, the service at the front desk and concierge fell FAR BELOW what I’ve experienced luxury resorts elsewhere. For the price (around RM1500/night), I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who’s used to real luxury. They really missed the mark with their first contact (reservation, front desk and concierge), and it’s very unfortunate because they had so much potential.
But here’s the thing…
The resort didn’t make the trip. I did.
I chose to reset.
I chose to nurture myself.
I chose to come back home softer, regulated, and more present.
What a privilege it is to be able to listen to my body… and actually respond.
If your body has been urging to you for rest lately… don’t wait until it starts screaming.
Take the break.
Reset.
You deserve to feel alive too ❤️
Today, on my solo self-care trip at an island resort, I signed up for snorkeling 🤿… without knowing how to swim. (I nearly drowned when I was 6, so this wasn’t light work 🤭)
When I admitted that on the excursion boat, people laughed. And honestly, a part of me wanted to shrink right back into safety. But with the most patient guidance from, something shifted. I didn’t just snorkel- I swam with sharks, drifted over breathtaking coral reefs, and even let go of my life jacket at the end to swim on my own for real!
There’s something powerful about meeting yourself on the other side of fear. I’ve always believed in stepping beyond comfort to expand the edges of who we are… and today reminded me why.
Humans are resilient by nature.
It’s our anxious minds that try to convince us we’re not. 🙌🏻 #YOLO
When I said I wanted to study psychology, people thought I was throwing my future away.
Today, that “crazy dream” became a clinic, a community, a TEDx stage, and now being selected as one of the 40 Under 40 by
From Malaysia to Utah. From silence to advocacy. From surviving to helping others heal.
Forty Under 40 — this is not just an award, but proof that the path you’re questioned for may be the one you’re meant to lead. 🤍
I wrote draft after draft (five total!), working and reworking until every word felt relevant, relatable, and true. I practiced every single day, sometimes multiple times a day — memorizing every line, every gesture, every step on that stage. I didn’t miss a single rehearsal, even while running a business and raising a family. Because for me, this wasn’t just about one night. It was about honoring my commitment to myself, to my audience, to my inner child who once believed she couldn’t do it, and for Maya, who sees me as a role model — and who I hope will carry this truth with her: you can do hard things, you can rise above your fears, and you can give everything to the dreams that matter.
Every effort was so worth it. That night was unforgettable. The energy, the connection, the power of sharing the stage with so many brilliant voices. And in my case, I actually got to do it twice. 😅 The first time went well, but the mic didn’t record. Instead of dreading it, I saw it as a privilege — another chance to deliver my message.
Here’s the wild part: a woman in the audience later told me after the show that she had said to herself out loud after my first time around, “I’d love to hear her talk again.” And when the emcee announced I’d go again for the mic to record, the people around her lit up — one even said, “You manifested that!” Later, someone else confirmed the exact same story. That moment lit me up. It reminded me that my messages landed, that people connected, and that my work is meaningful. Most of all, that I am not an imposter.
For years, I’ve battled imposter syndrome. But that night, I felt it fall away. I knew I belonged. I knew this message mattered. And I knew I had risen.
I’ve been working toward this moment for years. And I’m filled with so much gratitude — for my coaches, especially Charlie Warner, who guided me with patience and wisdom, for my family who held down the fort so I could give my all, and for every person who reminded me to trust the process.
And the process worked ❤️ #tedx #tedxslc2025 #tedtalk
It's a moment like this that takes me back to the girl I once was – born and raised poor in a small town, Kuching in Malaysia, full of dreams, hopes, and aspirations, yet uncertain of the path she was about to take. I wish I could go back and tell her, "𝙔𝙤𝙪'𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙩! 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙞𝙩, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚." ✨
Thank you,, for recognizing my dedication to mental health advocacy and giving me this platform to continue to normalize the conversations around it. Your outreach not only validates the work I've been doing, but also further motivates me to reach more hearts and minds.
To my incredible Instagram family, your unwavering support has been a significant part of this journey. 𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙬𝙚'𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙤𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨. Here's to fostering a culture of empathy, understanding, and acceptance!
As I step into this new role, I carry with me the dreams and hopes of that younger version of myself. She would be beaming with pride today and I'm just as excited to continue this journey, with all of you by my side. 💛
