La Tùche, today a monopole vineyard of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, held a distinctive position in 19th-century Burgundy as a site of exceptional pedigree. Originally linked to the religious holdings of the Abbey of Saint-Vivant, its reputation for producing wines of depth and aromatic complexity was firmly established by the mid-1800s. During this era, La Tùche exemplified the transition from ecclesiastical to private ownership following the French Revolution.
.
The vineyardâs limestone-rich soils and ideal exposition were already recognized as yielding Pinot Noir of rare finesse, cementing its status among the CĂŽte de Nuitsâ most important vineyards. This exceptionally rare bottle, was purchased in barrel by Bouchard in the late 19th century. Bouchard carried out the elevage and the bottle has remained in the historic cellars in Beaune until release.
.
Equally remarkable from the 19th century are RomanĂ©e-St-Vivant 1861, Bonnes Mares 1865, Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos St. Jacques 1889 & 1887, Pommard 1885, Volnay Santenots 1865, Nuits St Georges 1889 & 1865 and Clos Vougeot 1865 & 1857. These bottles are more than fine winesâthey are cultural artifacts, offering collectors a tangible link to Burgundyâs golden age.

The âŹ45,000 that will be donated to the Foundation du Patrimoine gives this sale a truly meaningful dimension.â

FrĂ©dĂ©ric Engerer, Directeur GĂ©nĂ©ral ArtĂ©mis Domaines, comments, âIn regards Vosne-RomanĂ©e Premier Cru Aux Reignots, this superb Vosne climat was vinified, in whole or in part, by Bouchard PĂšre & Fils from 1976 to 2005. This terroir, represents a significant chapter in the history of the House, and the wines born of it continue to speak today with remarkable eloquence.â
.
This Premier Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée is located just above La Romanée Grand Cru with a perfect exposure and is famous for producing full, rich and impressive long-lasting red Burgundy
.
The 1.62 hectares Aux Reignots vineyard has a thin top-soil above very hard limestone known as dalle de Comblanchien, scattered with rounded flints (reignots). The limestone is so hard that reputedly in the 1960âs when the vineyard was replanted, 14,000 sticks of dynamite were required to fracture the bedrock in order for the vines to be able to establish roots. The adage poor soils produce excellent wines certainly applies to Aux Reignots and this is one of the most highly regarded of all the 1er Crus in Vosne-RomanĂ©e.
.
Bouchard PÚre & Fils were one of the major producers of Aux Reignots from the 1976 vintage through to the 2001 vintage inclusive with an exclusive contract with the vineyard owners, Chùteau de Vosne-Romanée.
.
During this period 1976-2001, the winemaking took place at the Chùteau de Vosne-Romanée under the supervision of Jean and Régis Forey. Aux Reignots were matured and bottled by Bouchard PÚre & Fils who had a contractual agreement with the vineyard owner granting them exclusive distribution rights.
.
The rarity of these wines that are no longer produced by Bouchard means that these 1976 to 2005 vintages offered in the sale are an opportunity to acquire a piece of vinous history.

Nearly half of the cellar is devoted to the finest and rarest Bordeaux, including over 60 distinct wines from the 19th century. The Lafite selection alone is astonishing, with 66 vintages predating the Second World War, reaching as far back as 1811 and 1806. All the First Growths are well represented, with highlights such as Latour 1892, Margaux 1888, Cheval Blanc 1921, and Haut-Brion 1920. Of particular note are the magnums of Calon-SĂ©gur 1947 â the wine that first sparked JĂŒrgenâs lifelong love affair with fine wine.
.
The auction features exceptional examples including Leroy 1990, Rousseau and Comte de VogĂŒĂ© 1990, and a stunning array of Henri Jayerâs 1978s.
The cellar continues to impress with treasures from the RhĂŽne, such as JL Chave 1978 and a full dozen bottles of La Chapelle 1990. The Beaucastel selection is deep and includes magnums of Hommage 1989. From Italy, the offering is equally compelling: a magnificent vertical of Monfortino dating back to 1928, a superb range of Bruno Giacosa from 1985 onward, and iconic bottles such as Quintarelli 1983 and Sassicaia 1985 in both bottle and magnum
