This is the first concept art for our next video: The Desert Fathers and Mothers.

We’re in full swing animating our next video… and it’s one that so many of you have asked for since the very beginning. While Christians began to ruling over the Roman Empire, a whole new world was being birthed deep in the deserts of Egypt. Men and women were leaving everything behind and wandering into the deserts to seek God and to fight demons. These were the first generation of Christian monks - who created the very concept of a monastery. We can’t wait to show you more.

Help us bring it to life! We’re a crowdfunded charity and our videos are never sponsored, so your generosity is how we can keep the lights on. You can start giving through the link in the bio.
What happens when Christians are given the power of an Empire? This happened for the very first time in the 4th-century after the Roman Emperor became a Christian and it changed everything, even leading to the first permanent schism in the Church! If you’re new to ChristianStory, we’re bringing 2,000 years of the Christian faith to life, and you should probably check out our YouTube Channel.
COMING SOON: We just finished recording our next episode of ChristianStory and it’s the final chapter of the Early church… we cannot WAIT to show it to you.

“God is always trying to give good things to us, but our hands are too full to receive them.”

Augustine was one of the most influential theologian in all of Christian history. He wrote hundreds of books and has shaped almost every single aspect of how Christians think about Jesus, especially about what it means to love him! But he was also one of the very first Christians to wrestle with how Christians navigated political power and influence which were still wrestling with today.
126 years of Christian history in a single illustration. Every single one of our videos begins and ends with a hand-drawn mural by our lead illustrator. This mural covers one of the most remarkable and complex century of Christian history - between the Council of Nicaea in 325 and the council of Chalcedon on 451. In this century, Christianity became one of the most powerful forces in Roman Empire and Christians were wrestling with what it meant to have power. During this time, theological debates about Jesus spilled out onto the streets as Christians continued to reflect on what it really meant for Jesus to be fully human and fully God. If you want to see what all of this means, check out our newest video! (Link in the bio)
COMING SOON: we’ve been quiet over the last month or so. That’s because we’re working on our biggest episode yet and just didn’t have time to post on here… “When Christians took over the Roman Empire (AD 325-451)”.

But here are the first sketches from the art team. We are so excited for this episode. Until the 4th century, Christians were a minority community being persecuted, made up of martyrs and saints. But that completely changed in the Roman Empire in the 4th and 5th Centuries. In this period, Christians were now the ruling force and were wrestling with the problem of power. This was a complicated and compromising time, with violent conflicts between Christians and non-Christians as well as between Christians which ultimately led to the first permanent split in the Christian Church.

And we think that we can’t tell the family story without showing the good, the bad, and the ugly. So in this episode, we’re covering the murder of Hypatia, the destruction of temples, powerful bishops conspiring against each other, and seemingly endless theological debates. All the while, Christians were trying to figure out how to be faithful to Jesus.

Has everything even derailed? How is Jesus in all of this? What can we learn from this part of our family story? We can’t WAIT to show you.

There is an idea in Christian Theology that completely changed how people thought about what a human being is… The Image of God. It’s an idea that planted an uncomfortable seed in the minds of Christians everywhere but it took a long time for them to fully appreciate what it meant for their societies… But in the 1500s, that idea began to radically change the world. Hi! We’re new here! We bring to life the History and Theology of Christianity with free animated videos on YouTube. Follow the link in the bio to get to our channel and find out more.

Christian history is full of weird and wonderful stories, but it also has its fair share of division, violence, and controversy. How do we make sense of it all? Then there’s theology—the big questions of faith that can feel overwhelming.

At ChristianStory, we believe history and theology don’t have to be barriers to faith—they can deepen it. Christianity is a centuries-long story of people wrestling with what it means to follow Jesus. We want to bring that story to life.

Join us on this journey! We’re also a crowdfunded charity and would appreciate all the help we can get.
