Dark chocolate chip cookies with orange zest
Ingredients:
227 g room temp unsalted butter (salted works fine as well)
232 g granulated sugar
213 g light brown packed sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
380 g All purpose flour
30 g Cocoa powder
1 tsp Espresso powder
0.5 tsp Cinnamon powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Fine Sea salt
Zest of 5 Oranges
1 bar Tony Chocolony 70% dark chocolate
1 bar Tony Chocolony Dark Seasalt Almond
*Preheat Oven to 190 Celsius or 350 Fharenheit*
In a big bowl (I used a stand mixer) cream the butter, sugar and vanilla extract. Once smooth add the eggs and mix until the mixture turns lighter (about half a minute). Then add the orange zest and mix for another 30 seconds.
In a separate bowl add all the dry ingredients. Whisk together the dry ingredients until combined. Then add this to the Orange Butter Sugar Egg goop through a sift. Mix the batter using your stand mixer or a rubber spatula until just combined (dont over mix pls).
Cut up the chocolate bars for some THICC chocolaty chunks in the cookies. Using a rubber spatula, mix together. Then cover the cookie dough and let it rest in the fridge for about an hour (just so its easier to scoop up, or it will be very sticky)
With an icecream scoop, scoop up the cookie dough. Place on parchment paper and bake for about 10-12 minutes.
BOOM now you have fudgy, chocolate chip cookies that give me slight “brownie” vibes with a delicious a hint of orange.
Personally I preferred eating them the day after baking, but hey “eetsmakelijk”!
