What a rip. We’re finally home and we can’t help but reflect on how amazing this last month was. Couldn’t be more honoured to support our dogs in celebrating 20 years of ‘Birthing The Giant’ across the country alongside and.

This one’s going to be burned into our hearts forever, too. As some of you may already know, 15 minutes before walking on stage in Kelowna, Blake got a call informing him his father Louis had just passed. He was supposed to be at the show—he always made a point to see us when we were even remotely close. We had the option to drop off but Blake insisted we play—that show was always going to be for his Dad regardless of the circumstances. If you attended, you were right there with us experiencing that for the first time. Whatever the feeling was in that room, I’m sure you could cut it with a fucking knife. But you guys piled on the stage. You showed so much love and support, and in that moment it really became obvious how much we all needed this.

The rest of the tour was for Louis. Every night was cathartic and in a way exorcised whatever was being dealt with on the overnight drives and the back bunk of the bus. Fuck, I don’t know what would have happened if we DIDN’T have that.

So thank you. Thank you for showing up and believing in hardcore and metal and punk and music as a whole. Thank you for wearing our bands shirts and screaming the lyrics and showing up when you could be doing other shit. Thanks for selling those rooms out and taking the time to show up early and watch us before one of the best hardcore bands that has ever come out of Canada. You guys had no way of knowing how much it meant to us.

Infinite love to the sickest crew:,,, Mara and for keepin’ it moving.

We love you and we’ll be back soon, but first we’ve got a fucking record to finish.

Cancer Bats forever.
May or may not have become a new jam.

Recovering from a hectic week in LA but I’ve got a new vid dropping tomorrow. It might be one of my favorites so far and it’s fun as hell to play so I hope yall dig it. But yo, fellow NAMM goers and internet observers - what was your favorite piece of gear you saw at the show? Wondering if I missed anything groundbreaking aside from the MGK guitar.

Also, huge shout out to the gang at for sending me some gear to check out. I’ve been a big fan of their stuff for a long time - I really do think they make the raddest athletic apparel - so it’s awesome of them to get me all laced up. This jersey is so sick. Check ‘em out if you’re into high quality gym (or every day) clothes that actually look good.

Right hand riffs: Sunday edition.

I’ve been trying to find new/alternative ways (to me, at least) to approach certain techniques and one of the things I’ve been having fun with is hitting pick scrapes on different parts of the fretboard, or with harmonics, all while reallllly laying back to separate the strings as much as possible. It totally changes the sound, so if you’re into that kinda thing - give it a try. Scrape over your fretboard with your right hand, for instance, to get a way more pronounced/less metallic version that almost sounds like a weird digital computer sweep. Let me know if you try em and what you think - OR, share a cool unusual technique you use in the comments. Let’s level everyone up a bit. 👊

Tracked with my OG: SCT697b tuned A# F A# D# G C C#. Oh, and the pickguard is courtesy of my dude Tanner over at - he’s awesome.

Other gear:
BIAS FX 2. Download my preset on ToneCloud: TEETH Rhythm Archon

What’s your favorite offset guitar shape? I’ve been really into the Phoenix by for a while now, but I’ve wanted a Jag/Jazzmaster style shape for a long time. Might be time for an ESP custom shop in 2024 - what should I do? Spec it out and give me some rad ideas, guitar lords.
