A small antique tea caddy, carefully restored.
The jar is made of Seto ware, and the lid is carved from ivory.
The rim of the lid was incredibly thin, so I shaped the repair with great care, preserving its delicate form as much as possible.
This piece also carries traces of earlier kintsugi repairs, a quiet reminder that it has been cherished and cared for over many years. (The reddish area along the rim of the jar is from a previous kintsugi repair.)
It is always an honor to help a beloved piece continue its journey.

Its vivid glaze gradient and beautifully rounded form made it a truly striking piece. When I first received it, I couldn’t help but let out a quiet “wow.”

HANA TO UTSUWAでお馴染みの陶芸作家と、人気金継ぎ師によるトリプルコラボ企画。
金継ぎする器・道具・材料はすべてご用意しておりますので、 初心者の方でも気軽にご参加いただけます。
所要時間は約2時間。
東京・茗荷谷にある encounter galleryにて開催いたします。

今回金継ぎするのは、陶芸作家Enkelさんの制作過程で ほんの少し欠けてしまったり、ヒビが入ってしまった器たち。
そんな想いを込めて作られたものの、規格外となってしまった器に もう一度手をかけながら、自分だけの「お気に入り」としてお持ち帰りいただける、 今回ならではのお取り組みです。
なお、本ワークショップではご用意している器に加え、 お手持ちの欠けている器（※割れた器は不可）を1点までお持ち込みいただき、 あわせて金継ぎしていただくことも可能です。
金継ぎの講師を務めてくださるのは、松本チアリさん。
少人数制で、丁寧にレクチャーしていただけるため、 金継ぎに初めて触れる方にも安心してご参加いただけます。
本ワークショップでは、接着剤とエポキシパテを使用した簡易金継ぎを行い、 仕上げに本漆を塗布し、その上から真鍮粉を蒔いて仕上げます。
簡易金継ぎでありながら、実際に漆に触れながら仕上げることで、 より本格的な金継ぎの体験をお楽しみいただけます。
また、漆を使用することで、食器としての安心感がある点も特徴です。
ワークショップ当日は、「金継ぎお道具箱」も販売いたします。必要な道具や材料が入って、1箱11,000円(税込み)です。
ワークショップで体験した金継ぎを、そのままご自宅でも続けていただけます。

This bracelet was purchased as a special memento from the Brooklyn Museum in New York. 🗽
After returning home, the owner accidentally dropped it and it broke.
It arrived with the original price tag still attached, a reminder that it had hardly been worn. I’m delighted that it can now continue its story and be enjoyed for many years to come. ⟡ ࣪ ˖

You can choose many colors for the Kintsugi finish! Gold and platinum don't tarnish with age, while brass and silver turn brownish with age. So I recommend them for those who want to enjoy the aging process. You can also finish with black, white, and colorful lacquer ⸝⋆

ここ数年で金継ぎが身近な存在になりつつあるのは嬉しいけど、伝統金継ぎ、簡易金継ぎ、現代金継ぎ、なんちゃって金継ぎ(⁉︎)など本当に呼称が多くておそらく混乱されている方も多いのではと感じています、、
伝統金継ぎと呼ばれるのは漆をメインに天然素材のみで修繕する昔ながらの手法です。工程が多く時間がかかりますが、やっぱり仕上がりは1番綺麗ですし食器として安心して使えるのは嬉しいです◎
簡易金継ぎや現代金継ぎなどと呼ばれるお直し方法は、厳密に言えば「金継ぎ風」。(と私は捉えていて)漆は一切使わずに接着剤や合成樹脂で破損を修繕します。食品衛生法に適合していない材料も多いので注意が必要です。
見た目はやはり伝統金継ぎに劣りますが、なんといってもすーーぐ簡単にできちゃうのが魅力！伝統金継ぎが最短でも3ヶ月ほどかかるのに対して、1日で完成しちゃいます。何かと忙しい現代人には有難いポイントです◎
そして漆かぶれしやすい方にはこちらが安心ですよね࿐⋆꙳
伝統金継ぎと簡易金継ぎ、適材適所あるのだと思います。「簡易金継ぎだからダメ」と頑なになるのではなく、大切なモノを直したい、という気持ちを諦めないための柔軟な判断ができたらなと。
