I’ve been working through a lot in therapy around validating and comforting the little child version of me…telling her what she needed to hear, circling her with protection, easing her worries.

It’s such a trip becoming a parent and recognizing yourself in your children, feeling the discomfort of big emotions.

I carry so much weight around being the ā€œperfectā€ mom, the constant drive to protect them and arm them with tools and knowledge, the hyper vigilance that comes from such a honorable place…but I am realizing that anxiety and pressure gets IN THE WAY of relaxing into motherhood and trusting myself as a parent, and friend, to my children.

I’m rambling, but what I want to say is that sometimes we can be so critical and self loathing, only seeing the failures of our efforts, but others often see the light shining through. If you have people in your life who you trust and love, let them tell you what they see in you. Let some of the light you share shine back into you, because I bet they see so much beauty and care. I bet you are doing a really good job.

Big hugs. I love you.

Please can we also have a round of applause for this dress? I was shooketh when I tried it on this morning. This is def a top fav dress of all time. šŸ’™šŸ¦‹šŸ„¹ *kindly gifted
It’s giving oversharing on the internet, it’s giving day 27 of my cycle, it’s giving hello šŸ‘¹

I don’t blame my parents for paying to send me to this school. They did the best they could with what they knew…but I wish there had been more interventions from the state level.

I am now a die hard public education advocate. You could not convince me that oversight and standardized learning expectations don’t matter, which is also why I am very opposed to school vouchers and the dismantling of public education in this country.

Anyway, what does this have to do with what I wore? šŸ˜‚

Everything, actually. I dress myself based entirely on who I want to be and what brings me joy. Not to be accepted or desired, to be bold and alive. And to make that 17 year old girl, who was told she’d be better off marrying rich than trying hard, proud.

For the ones asking about the hair routine, this is my typical morning when I have no time for a shower reset.

Obviously this styling requires both a great #shaghaircut or #softshaghaircut and some amount of wave or curl…but I think the cactus fruit 3-in-1 styling cream is the bessssst and have been milking this one bottle since last spring.

Lmk if you have questions! I have a highlight with my haircut and other questions! Hope this helps at least one type b girlie needing some support šŸ˜¹šŸ§šā€ā™€ļø

Also, maybe consider me for future gifting?! 🫶
I don’t know why ā€œstyleā€ became so devoid of life and color and vibrancy. I have no interest in being considered ā€œrefined or elevatedā€ in my style if that means looking like a sad memory in a movie or like living in a futuristic psych ward…I’ll just keep being tacky in bold and loud and fun. K thanx
