Second chapter — User-centered architecture
introduces new services to the city of Beauvais, featuring modernized exhibition galleries, redesigned surroundings, and direct access to the Gallo-Roman archaeological crypt.
At the heart of the project, a new monumental staircase distinguishes itself through its sculptural form in coated concrete. It integrates seamlessly within a space of complex geometry, creating a fluid transition between the different sections of the building.

Knitting the Grand Palais back together meant preserving the existing architecture while exploring thoughtful and innovative solutions to adapt its architecture to contemporary uses. The Grand Palais is now an open and vibrant cultural space, creating a new experience for the next generation of visitors.

Following the unveiling of the restored Nave for the 2024 Paris Olympics, today's visitors will rediscover the building spaces as a whole for the first time. The renovation project led by Chatillon Architectes revived the Grand Palais’ circulation and sightlines, reopening its central axis while weaving back together a formerly fragmented building. To enhance the visitor experience, new exhibition spaces and services have been created.
It is now possible to travel from Square Jean Perrin to the Seine uninterrupted throughout the new Place Centrale. This area, free to explore, will welcome and orientate visitors, giving back the Grand Palais to the city and the public.

We are pleased to present the first images of the renovated nave of the Grand Palais in anticipation of its iconic reopening for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where it will host the fencing and taekwondo events.
Led by Chatillon Architects, this extensive restoration will reveal its first phase to the public this summer, before the complete finalization of the building scheduled for summer 2025.
