A cozy winter night, a pot of coq au vin slowly doing its thing, and the simple joy of cooking for neighbors.

I used my favorite Ina Garten coq au vin (linked below). It never disappoints.

And then
Ella arrived with Meyer lemons from the garden and made the most incredible lemon pavlova with farm-fresh eggs and whipped cream. Completely over the top and completely perfect.

That’s why I love cooking. It brings people together, around a delicious meal, with time to really catch up.

Save this for your next cozy dinner night đŸ‹đŸ·

Ingredients
Chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on), bacon, carrots, onion, garlic, tomato paste, flour, good red wine (Burgundy or Pinot Noir), chicken stock, thyme, bay leaves, mushrooms, butter, salt & pepper, parsley.

Method
Season chicken and brown skin-side down in olive oil; remove and set aside.
Cook bacon, then add carrots and onion until softened. Stir in garlic and tomato paste.
Sprinkle with flour, then add wine, scraping up the browned bits. Add stock, thyme, and bay leaves.
Return chicken to the pot, skin-side up. Cover and gently simmer until tender.
Sauté mushrooms in butter, add to the stew, and simmer uncovered until slightly thickened.
Finish with parsley and serve hot.

Hellebores are just beginning to bloom! One of the very first signs of spring.

A little seasonal care goes a long way: clearing leaves, cutting back last year’s growth, and feeding the soil so the blooms can shine.

Quietly beautiful. Long-blooming. So generous.

4 places in Provence that completely stole our hearts and quietly shaped what this retreat will be about!

✹ Bastide du Mourre - This will be our home base. Surrounded by olive groves and soft Provençal hills, it is calm, beautiful, and the kind of place that naturally slows you down.

✹ Bonnieux - Perched high in the Luberon with sweeping views across the valley. Quiet streets, timeless beauty, and one of our all time favorite antique shops tucked inside.

✹ Lourmarin - One of our favorite villages in all of Provence. Sun soaked and full of life, with a weekly market we never miss. Baskets, linens, lavender, and little treasures you did not know you needed.

✹ Restaurant Philip in Fontaine de Vaucluse - A true pinch us moment. Crystal clear river water flowing straight from the source, a storybook village, and an unforgettable lunch right at the water’s edge.

These places are woven into the rhythm of our Provence retreat. Wandering villages, discovering antiques, cooking with local ingredients, slowing down, and savoring every moment. Evenings filled with wine, laughter, and that unmistakable Provençal feeling.

Chateau Sonoma Goes to Provence 2026 is officially SOLD OUT. If you missed it, join the waitlist and we’ll reach out personally if a spot opens up. Link in bio to join the waitlist!

At 5th Street Farm, the taxidermy collection invites quiet reflection. Each piece has been preserved with great care, honoring the animal’s natural beauty, character, and grace. All are sourced responsibly from artists who work only with animals that have passed of natural causes.

These pieces are more than decoration, they’re about reverence. A way to pause, observe, and feel connected to the wild world that surrounds us.

Wandering through the farm, you can sense the spirit and stillness these animals leave behind. A gentle reminder of nature’s poetry and presence in our lives.

For those drawn to rare and meaningful pieces, Chateau Sonoma offers a curated selection of antiques and curiosities to discover. Visit the shop or explore through the link in bio.
Our last stop in Japan and perhaps the one that stayed with me the most.

Okinawa is known as a Blue Zone, a place where people live long, healthy lives. Being there, it’s not hard to see why. Life moves at a different pace. People spend time together. They eat simply. They live close to the sea and to nature.

We stayed at Hoshinoya Okinawa, where village-style architecture, deep calm, and sunsets over the sea set the rhythm of our days. We experienced local culture through music, martial arts, and the quiet beauty of everyday life.

Breakfasts were entirely Japanese ~grilled fish, kelp, tofu, fresh vegetables, fruit, miso soup. Nourishing, intentional, deeply satisfying. Even pig ears with kimchi felt like a small pleasure 😳

What stayed with me most were the everyday moments: people gathering by the water, sharing meals, moving through their days with ease. There is a military base here and a complicated, bittersweet reality, yet there is resilience and a quiet sense of harmony.

Time together, good food and seaside vibes = ingredients for a good life.

Especially grateful for time spent with my brother and his family and for sharing this place with my mother and my son.

On our way home, a rainbow appeared.

C’est la vie 🌈

We arrived in Kyoto for the holidays to meet my brother, and it ended up being the sweet spot of our entire Japan trip đŸ€

We experienced a traditional tea ceremony, had one of the most incredible meals at Tempura Yasuko Endo West, and then followed all the advice everyone gives you in Kyoto and honestly, they were right.

Don’t miss the bamboo forest.
Don’t miss the Thousand Buddhas at SanjĆ«sangen-dƍ.
And walking through the thousands of torii gates at Fushimi Inari is something you won’t forget.

We packed a lot in, and somehow it never felt rushed.

At the end of each day, we came back to Hotel Mitsui Kyoto which we absolutely loved. Calm, beautiful, and the perfect place to slow down, especially soaking in the onsen at the end of the day.

Kyoto has this way of staying with you.
We only scratched the surface, but I already can’t wait to go back.

If Japan is on your list, save this for later đŸ€
