Volunteers like the South Bucks Wombles helped clear the mess up along the Alderbourne Chalk Stream in Fulmer Village and we will continue to do so to keep our beautiful rivers clean.
I had a constructive meeting with OCU in Stoke Poges, who are carrying out utility works on behalf of SSE, to discuss the impact on Templewood Lane and Stoke Common Road as resurfacing is being prepared.
Both roads are in very poor condition, and residents have waited far too long for proper repairs.
The key issue is making sure utility works and highways resurfacing are properly coordinated, so we do not end up resurfacing a road only for it to be dug up again shortly afterwards.
For Templewood Lane, OCU are planning phased utility works this year, with highways resurfacing to follow. We also discussed whether interim works could help make the road safer before then.
For Stoke Common Road, discussions are taking place around possible surface dressing resurfacing before utility works begin, followed by full resurfacing after those works are complete.
We also spoke about OCU’s social local responsibility and their kind offer of supporting litter picking efforts. I will keep pressing OCU, SSE, Buckinghamshire Highways and AtkinsRéalis to make sure these long awaited road improvements are not allowed to drift.
Residents are fed up with failed road surfaces. I will keep pushing until the job is done.
Residents have waited long enough.
After years of pushing with my ward councillor colleagues, I met on site with Highways Cabinet Member Cllr Thomas Broom to show the state of Templewood Lane directly.
The good news: Templewood Lane is now set to be resurfaced as part of Buckinghamshire Council’s major roads programme.
Utility works still need coordinating so the road is not dug up again straight after resurfacing, but I will keep pressing until the job is done.
Stoke Common Road is also due for resurfacing - update coming soon.

Fly tipping and poor waste disposal blight our lanes, damage the countryside, and leave residents and taxpayers to pick up the mess. There is no excuse for it and Westminster must allow stronger powers for Councils to issue uncapped fines and vehicle confiscation.
Thank you to the enforcement team for their hard work. Cllrs Dev Dhillon, Thomas Hogg I will continue to work closely with the waste team to ensure fly tippers are caught. These cases are not always easy to prove, but where evidence can be gathered, whether it be hidden tree cameras to resident dashcam - action can and should follow.
