An ode to craftsmanship and beautiful design... I have loved everything creates ever since I came across one of its chairs many years ago in London. I have since had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Lulu Lytle (a fellow Egyptologist), the wonderful craftspeople in the workshops and the amazing team in both the New York and London showrooms. It's the timeless design, the careful thought that goes into each piece, be it furniture, lighting, fabric or wallpaper - but it's also (and foremost) the unwavering support of the crafts by spreading awareness of the how, where, and whom by it's made, and creating incentives for young people to want to learn the craft.

This pendant involves several crafts (fabric, lighting, metal) and talented people - and it shows! The details are pure perfection. And when clients understand all this, it's the most satisfying part of the process for me.

A complete gut renovation of this wing of our Roxbury project, turned this space into the most used in the house. Initially a single space between the garage and the kitchen, we created a hallway separated by a glass and panelled wood "wall" that gives access from a new bootroom, but still brought in plenty light. New ceiling panelling, wallpaper on walls and a mix a colours and textures give this sitting room a relaxed feel, where the family gathers everyday.

It's Monday, and spring is finally here, so it's a good day to make a re-introduction for all our new followers here...

I am Cláudia Kalur (pronounced like Taylor), and I head a boutique design studio, CFK Interiors, based in Washington, Connecticut... we work on a range of larger projects, from pool houses, additions, to full houses, apartments, and estates - in the USA and Europe (mostly the UK and Portugal but "have measuring tape, will travel")...

We create bespoke spaces tailored to our clients' lifestyles, informed by the architecture and location of each project. I was born (and bred) in Lisboa, Portugal, and lived for a few years in London (to study Egyptology... I know) before moving to the USA. I am mostly influenced by European classic design, whether more modern or more traditional, but always layered, lived-in spaces, grounded, and full of personality.

CFK Interiors is a member of the and. We pride ourselves in working with a trusted set of trades, from design to completion, delivering to clients bespoke houses that they love.

Goals for the future include solidifying our studio in Europe and expanding our scope with perhaps a boutique hotel or a yacht (throwing it out there, universe!)... 😎
