El libro es una exploración visual y testimonial de comunidades costeras en México que enfrentan la devastación del mar. Afectadas por la erosión y el cambio climático, estas poblaciones están viendo desaparecer no solo sus hogares, sino también su cultura, sus tradiciones y su forma de vida.
La mayoría de las fotografías fueron tomadas en película analógica. Al usar deliberadamente cámaras con “fallas” como filtraciones de luz o mecanismos inestables, se renuncia al control total de la imagen, logrando fotos fragmentadas e incompletas. Esta elección no es casual: es una analogía directa con los paisajes de estas comunidades, también rotos, interrumpidos y en proceso de desaparición. La luz que se filtra en los negativos transforma la imagen en testigo de una pérdida.
El fotolibro también fue concebido desde la fricción entre sus páginas, donde algunas imágenes se fragmentan y solo cobran sentido en el pliegue. Así como el agua y la sal erosionan lentamente las paredes, el paso del tiempo y del lector deja su huella en las páginas, revelando capas ocultas de una historia compartida.
Este fotolibro entrelaza imágenes con voces: retratos de un presente frágil junto a los testimonios de quienes resisten, recuerdan y reconstruyen desde la pérdida. Un documento visual que busca visibilizar una realidad urgente.
