A note from our founder, Julia, on New Year’s Day. 💫

“In 2025, I started a different kind of tradition. Not resolutions, not self-correction, not a list of ways to do more or be better. Instead, I chose to simply notice. I’ve always struggled with New Year’s resolutions—I don’t believe you need a specific date to begin doing things differently. If something matters, why wait? So rather than focusing on change, I focused on acknowledgment.

I made myself a simple bowl and began using it to collect notes about the good things that happened throughout the year. Small moments, quiet wins, things I was proud of, days that felt lighter than expected. Writing them down became a practice of pausing and recognizing the life I was already living. The bowl wasn’t about perfection or progress—it was about remembering.

That practice is what inspired Holding the Good: Sound Bowls & Clay, our upcoming event on January 24 from 1:30 - 4 pm with. This workshop is an invitation to slow down and create a vessel meant to hold meaning. We’ll begin by handbuilding a simple bowl, then settle into a 45-minute sound bath led by HAUM Soundbath, allowing the body to soften and the mind to rest. Afterward, you’ll return to your bowl to decorate and finish it with intention, reflection and care.

This bowl is designed to live with you throughout the year—as a place to hold memories, moments you don’t want to forget, challenges you moved through and reminders of what went right. Rather than focusing on what needs to change or improve, this practice centers on honoring what has already happened.”

If you’re craving a gentler way to begin the year, this is your invitation. Sign up via the link and join us in holding the good. 🫶

As we continue our season of gratitude and our ongoing series of introducing the teachers who shape our community, we’re excited to share more about Ceramic Souls instructor Rachael Johnson.

Rachael Johnson was raised with a deep appreciation for art across many mediums, which eventually led her to clay as a way to bring creativity and community together. In the studio, Rachael is all about connection. She’s energized by helping students uncover their own creative strengths and watching confidence grow at the wheel. Her classes are supportive, engaging and full of encouragement every step of the way.

Take a class with her and expect equal parts learning and laughter. Her joy for ceramics is contagious, and her classroom is a place where creativity feels both exciting and approachable. We appreciate you, Rachael! 🫶🏻💫
