I will be taking part in the group exhibition *THE GOLDEN NAGOYA*, which opens in Nagoya on 4 July!
As the exhibition is themed around gold, I imagine it will have a rather different feel to my usual work⚱️⚱️

虫の意味不明な凄さ、特にその構造に惹かれるという彼の美の琴線から作られるモノトーンで清潔な白磁の昆虫。それは、単なる虫の形をしたオブジェではなく、長年の虫の飼育・観察視点から作り上げられる生態研究的知見が表現されています。
幼い頃より、生き物が好きだった堀は、祖父のいた環境から現在の制作の礎がつくられました。
「都会で育つ中で、普段出会えない生き物が、夏休みに祖父の実家に行くと間近で出会えたのです。」 少年の豊かな感性を刺激したのは、都会と田舎の環境の違いや、そこで出会う不思議との出会いでした。この未知へ の好奇心は、現在の堀の制作に多大な影響を与えています。彼の作り出す虫は、実際に存在はしない空想の未来の姿 として表れます。
長い年月虫と関わり、実際に飼育していく中で、堀は二つの視点が洗練されていきました。一つ目は、虫の生態に 向けた視点、二つ目は、個々の虫が持つ特性への視点です。この二つに堀の豊かな想像力が合わさり表現された、 「Ecological Fiction」としての作品と言えます。

Takaharu Hori creates works featuring insects—imaginary creatures that might exist—using white porcelain as his medium.
These monochrome, pristine white porcelain insects are born from his aesthetic sensibility, which is drawn to the inexplicable awe inspired by insects, particularly their structure. They are not merely objects shaped like insects; rather, they embody insights gained from ecological research, shaped by his many years of rearing and observing insects.
Hori, who has loved living creatures since childhood, laid the foundations for his current practice in the environment of his grandfather’s home.
‘Growing up in the city, I would visit my grandfather’s family home during the summer holidays and encounter creatures up close that I would never normally come across.’ It was the contrast between urban and rural environments, and the wondrous encounters he experienced there, that stimulated the young boy’s rich sensibility. This curiosity about the unknown continues to exert a profound influence on Hori’s current work. The insects he creates appear as imaginary, futuristic forms that do not exist in reality.
Through his long-standing involvement with insects and his hands-on experience raising them, Hori developed two distinct perspectives. The first is a focus on insect ecology, and the second is a focus on the unique characteristics of individual insects. These two perspectives, combined with Hori’s rich imagination, come together to create works that can be described as “Ecological Fiction.”

Rebooting-010, the latest piece in my abstract series currently exhibited at KOGEI Art Fair Kanazawa
I'm absolutely chuffed that colleagues have remarked, "That's rather good!" about this abstract work I feel personally pleased with!
I believe this piece marks a point where I can confidently say, "This is the abstract work I create."

My main piece for this year's KOGEI Art Fair has finally been fired after five firings.
I'll be present at the venue all day on the first day, the 28th, and somewhere at the venue until around 3 PM on the 29th.
Tomorrow I'm heading to Aichi Prefecture for a lecture (including a live demonstration and critique of students' work). The day after tomorrow is setup for the KOGEI Art Fair, and the day after that is the VIP preview—it was truly cutting it close. Now I can finally relax.

An imaginary insect mimicking a single flower vase left behind by mankind in the distant future. It is movable and can be transformed.
