Just so you know, they will still suck.
However, I have a couple tips for you to make them suck less, so you feel pumped to do them more consistently.
You always hear abs are made in the kitchen, however in order to make gains in the gym and with aesthetics some time needs to be put in on abs in the gym.
Your core is a vital part of your body and therefore requires sufficient attention.
This doesn't mean you need to do a million crunches everyday. In fact you shouldn't.
It means you need to consistently put some focused time in working on your core.
Consistency is key to having a strong core.
How can you be consistent? By making ab workouts suck less, so here's how-
Tip #1
Don't do abs everyday. You use your core during every workout you do, so you don't need a focused core routine daily. 2-3 solid core sessions per week is sufficient.
Tip #2
If you hate doing abs, plug them in at the beginning of your workout. Get them over with first so you don't skip them at the end.
Tip #3
Set a timer. I love doing tabata style ab workouts because I know that I get the whole thing done in 4 minutes. You can push yourself through 4 minutes.
Tip #4
Quality over quantity. When doing abs, we tend to try to bang out 50 straight reps of crunches. What other exercise do we do that with? Focus on form. 5 good reps are better than 15 bad ones.
Tip #5
Chose variety wisely. Having a million different exercises to your ab workout is overwhelming. Pick 2-4 exercises and your rep or time range.
Here is a quickie ab workout for you to give a shot:
Set your timer for 4 minutes. 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest.
Elbow plank
Right side plank
Left side plank
Hollow hold
Repeat 2x through for a total of 4 minutes!
I was in a mood, tired, overwhelmed and all the rest of it. I was 110% not going to workout. But I had no good reason not to.
So I put my sneaks on and hit this workout hard AF.
Here are the deets ⬇️

This one was definitely not a muscle building workout. This was a get out of my own head workout. And it worked.
Give this one a try next time you just need to grind and sweat🏃♀️

I am not it.
The last year or so has really showed me how IMPERFECT I am. Up until August of 2019, life had been pretty damn easy for me. My schedule had always been full, but in August 2019 I started to learn what a
full schedule actually was.
I actually found out what people meant when they said that they did not have time to workout.
I actually found out how people felt when they made crappy food choices over good ones.
I have missed more workouts, eaten more boxed mac and cheese, drank less water, and taken less steps that I ever have in the last year.
And you know what?
It isn’t because I don’t have the time, in general I do. Maybe I don’t have time for a two hour workout, but I have time everyday for a half hour to an hour.
It isn’t because I don’t have the money, I can afford healthy food choices.
It isn’t because I don’t want to, because I desperately want to hit my macros and lift heavy sh%$.
You know what it is? I am MENTALLY drained.
I work 40 hours a week in a job that I LOVE but that I am learning so much that my brain is tired when I get home. That I could push through at least 90% of the time.
What really gets me is I have been going to law school at night for a year straight with less than two weeks break. This adds roughly 25 hours of mind bending work to my week every week. I notice a huge
difference taking this challenge on. I have had to make concessions in almost every other area of my life to accommodate this.
When I signed up for it I didn’t think it would have such an enormous impact on my life. I thought I knew what I was getting into. Let’s just say I had no idea.
Any time I take time off from work is it to handle school work or attend class.
I have NEVER experienced this level of mental exhaustion in my life, and it is pretty humbling.
To all of you who I told you that I got it before? I didn’t. Now I do.
I understand that you know you have time to workout and just can’t bring yourself to mentally get there.
I understand that you want to cook a nutritious dinner that helps you move towards your goals but digging out the frozen meal or the box just doesn’t take any thought.
⬇️
What you need
-1 vanilla greek yogurt (5.3oz)
-1 granny smith apple
-.5 cup oats and honey granola
I used a juice glass to build! Scoop
0.5 your yogurt in, layer of apple, layer of granola, then add your second layer of yogurt and apple and granola. All done!
I paired mine with my no fail vanilla latte coffee shake.
Total protein ~35grams

Pumped out a really solid workout today. One of the best ones I have had for a while!
Abs first, the hit upper body, then finished with some light cardio.
My motto lately is that something is better than nothing. And it is.
But man is it good to feel like a rockstar during your lift 💪

Have you heard people say... "You don't have to take that job just for the money" "You don't have to track your food to lose weight" "You don't have to workout to get the body you want: "You don't have to talk to those people" "You don't have to do x,y,z to get amazing results"
Any of these sound familiar?
They do to me.
Have you ever heard one of these "You don't have too" phrases and gotten REALLY ticked off?
I have.
Because sometimes you DO have to pass up an opportunity. Sometimes you DO have to take that job just for the money.
Because sometimes it's not just about you.
And sometimes it's only about you.
There are some things you REALLY DON'T have to do, just about no matter what.
You don't have to cut carbs to lose weight.
You dont have to take supplements to get lean.
You get the idea.
My point is, don't let someone who doesn't know you tell you what you do and don't have to do.
If you are unsure of what your next step should be, then reach out and ask someone who is going to listen and take YOUR situation into consideration.
Don't let the noise and someone else's decisions dictate your life.
You are your own best compass. Sometimes we just need someone to help us read that compass.

Trying to keep my head above water.
Weighing in around 120lbs of late. That's around 5lbs less than I have been for the last 2 years.
I would says half of that is fat loss, and half is muscle loss.
I went from lifting heavy 5-6 times per week to lifting 1-2 times per week and doing circuits 1-2 times per week.
That's right. Over the last 6 months there have been weeks where I have only gotten 1-2 workouts in per week.
It's been an adjustment period for me. I started law school in August 2019 and that has really knocked me for a loop.
But now.... I am getting my mojo back.
I have gotten over 10k steps per day for 45 days straight.
I have gotten at least 3 lifts in per week.
I'm hitting my nutrition numbers fairly consistently (thanks )
Period of our lives are going to throw up for a loop. Its frustrating and completely overwhelming.
I can't tell you the number of times I have wanted to throw in the towel over the last 6 months.
But I have an end goal in mind, both with my body and with my career.
And that end goal is worth the struggle.
So, I'm coming back with focus. I'm coming back with new goals.
It doesn't matter what time of year it is. It matters what your priorities need to be right now. I have mine figured out. So, let get to work 🤫
#berelentless #thefitjd
1. Just finished my first semester of law school 🤓. Focus will be in real estate law!
2. I have three fitness certs, 2 nutrition and cpt.
3. I am a pasta and coffee addict. 🍝☕ 4. My favorite body part to train is back.
5. I love running when I stick with it for a good amount of time. Sweet spot for me is 2-3 mile runs.🏃♀️ 6. Married 9.21.19 💍
7. Favorite instagrammers
8. Favorite non-fitness activity is reading!
9. I am a good cook when I am patient. However patience is not my strong suit. I am a very messy cook that just throws things together hoping they work.
10. I am lazy by nature. Give me a cup of coffee and a good book and I could chill all day. However, my drive to get s#$& done is well honed. Therefore my laziness doesn't show often 💁♀️ #berelentless #thefitjd
I'm tired. Working 40 hours a week plus going to law school part time is kicking my butt.
I ache. All the hunching over a computer and books is starting to get to me.
Mentally I am checked out sometimes. Overload on the brain can do that to you.
But I'm still putting in the work. I was the most inconsistent person for September and October. Periods in your life are going to be that way.
But you have a choice today as to whether you are going to change or settle.
You pick.
