1. I got 2 round MDF plates at my local hardware store custom cut. (Plate A: 6mm thick, 120cm length; Plate B: 15mm thick, 109cm length)
2. Prime plate A (the bigger and thinner one). As I wanted to paint it with limewash afterwards, I used a special primer for limewash which I had also used on the wall. The limewash and primer I use is from
3. Paint plate A (the bigger and thinner one) in the same colour as the wall, which in my case is beige limewash. I needed 2 layers.
4. Take plate B and drill 4 holes into it (one in the center, three around).
5. Hold plate B against the wall where the lamp should be. Use the holes in the plate to make crosses on the wall behind it with a pencil.
6. Drill holes into wall where the crosses are.
7. Fill holes with dowels/plugs.
8. Attach plate B with screws.
9. Stick LED strip around the side of plate B.
10. Measure center of both plate A and B
11. Put silicone (or glue) on the surface of Plate B
12. Press plate A onto plate B (centerd, make sure there’s an equal amount of space on all sides).
As I already had everything apart from the wood, it cost me 55€ in total 🌞

I’m Alina and I just moved into this beautiful new build maisonette apartment in Rotterdam together with my boyfriend.
I have always been interested in design and aesthetics, which led me to pursue a bachelor in Industrial Design.
Afterwards, I worked as a stage designer for festivals and currently as a project manager for a digital creative agency while doing a Master in Management.
Having lived in student rooms for the past years, I was over the moon to be able to finally completely decorate my own space from scratch. My studies and work experience help me in building and creating a lot myself.
