🌿 Hidden behind a screen of tropical greenery, Casa Areca is a quiet retreat from the noise of modern life, a home designed to soothe the senses and promote true rest.
🌺 Located in a lush neighbourhood between Tulum’s vibrant coast and its bustling inland town, this pared-back sanctuary by was created for four friends in search of something rare: a space that feels elemental, effortless and wholly in tune with nature.
“The clients didn’t want anything polished or ostentatious,” explains Co-Lab partner Joshua Beck. “They wanted a place where they could slow down and feel part of the landscape.”
🌳 With a narrow site and a desire to preserve mature trees, the architects embraced constraint as inspiration. The result? A long, open-plan living area that connects seamlessly with the garden, a shaded rooftop terrace and four serene en-suite bedrooms, all designed around light, wind and flow.
🪵 Inside, a restrained material palette: polished cement, local hardwoods and natural linens, reflects the muted tones of Tulum’s landscape. From built-in daybeds and parota wood sofas to a cenote-inspired pool lined with grey pigmented plaster, every element was crafted with intention.
✨ Inspired by the wabi-sabi and slow-living ethos, is a reminder that true luxury isn’t about more, it’s about meaning.
