When leadership is unclear, dogs fill the vacuum themselves. Barking, reactivity, aggression…they all stem from the same thing. A vacant role. the dog is trying to control his surroundings because they feel out of control.
Structure is the medicine most anxious dogs actually need. The question is: are you willing to turn the mirror on yourself to see what role you are playing in your dog’s behavior?

These games are easy to teach and most people can accomplish them pretty quickly and move onto harder concepts. If you miss these exercises though, and aren’t getting this kind of quick head turn response from your dog at a young age, it can be much harder later.
