Here are some of the places I ate in NYC (find many more recs in my NYC highlights)
– A beautiful non-profit yoga studio in the East Village. This is where I go when I want yoga that feels rooted and real, with space for both movement and stillness. It’s grounding in the best way. The studio also has a cute café, perfect for catching up with the community after class.
– A Soho loft turned Ganesha temple, and across the studio you’ll find a beautiful library and café. Eddie Stern has been sharing spiritual teachings and methodologies from sacred India since 1993. Perfect if you’re craving a slower, more traditional practice.
– If you’d like to deepen your yoga practice, go, go, go to Dharma. Especially the 90-minute masterclass taught by Sri Dharma Mittra, the founder of Dharma Yoga. He’s 86 years old and will spin on his head and do handstands throughout the class. A truly fascinating and beautiful experience, surrounded by deeply dedicated and inspiring yogis.
– Felt like being home at my own studio, with strong, free-flowing classes. Love. There are three locations across Brooklyn and Manhattan.
– Intentional yoga with chanting, spirituality, philosophy, and a strong sense of community. Next time, I want to join their Tuesday night kirtan.
– I’ve been coming to Sky Ting for years and loved their Chinatown location (and the cute giraffe). The new, elevated NoHo studio is gorgeous and features a fun, varied schedule, with many classes rooted in Katonah yoga tradition.
– Americans love hot yoga, and Y7 is no exception. I enjoy the dark rooms with candlelight, loud music, and free-flow vinyasa classes that build slowly and end in one-breath-per-asana sequences.
Started the year with more yoga trainings in Rishikesh, India, a trip I will never forget.
Taught weekly classes at my second home and. Getting to share the fruits of yoga is so meaningful to me.
Went to Namibia and South Tyrol, Italy, as a yoga teacher in residency (thank you and )
