After a few hours crouching and scanning branches, this little guy was almost impossible to spot, and honestly no surprise there since Pygmy Owls are only about 6 inches tall, roughly the size of a soda can. Just as the camera finally locked focus, it launched off the branch and snatched a lizard off a nearby rock with shocking precision, a reminder that ferocity has nothing to do with size. They are both ruthless and adorable.
