Asking for a friend…. Is it too early to watch Christmas movies/put up our tree? It’s been so sad with the shorter days but i watched my first Christmas movie last night and it brought me so much joy 🥹 are you getting into the holiday spirit? 🎄
Juneau → Ferry to Haines → Yukon → Anchorage → Seward → Coldfoot (60 miles north of the Arctic Circle) → Fairbanks
What an unforgettable adventure! Some of my favorite highlights 😊
The food: King crab in Juneau is absolutely unbeatable, and in Anchorage I had one of the best meals of the trip with king crab grilled cheese and chowder for dipping. The best salmon and halibut too.
Camping: In Seward we spent the day by the lake without seeing a single other person. We also camped one night up at the Arctic Circle. A literal dream.
Hiking: Endless trails with no one else around, which was the biggest perk.
Culture: Learning so much about Native American traditions and history.
Longer days: I loved how the sun stayed up until midnight, and in the Arctic it was still light out even past 1 am.
Northern Lights: Saw them on my red eye!
Wildlife: 17 bears, 13 whales, 5 moose, and a million bald eagles.
Alaska is a dream come true and I can’t wait to go back 🏔️

Meet Miss Lulu from Haines, Alaska (no, I didn’t name her). We got to watch her hang out near the salmon weir for 30–40 minutes, teaching her four cubs how to fish! At the end, she even caught one herself (last video) — peep the photo of her with the salmon in her mouth.
It was one of the most surreal moments of my life. Even cooler, the park rangers said it’s incredibly rare for a grizzly to have four cubs. She most likely adopted two of them, and you can tell by the different sizes. How beautiful that animals hold such a love in their heart for others.
I’ll never forget the bear encounters in Alaska (17 bears, 9 cubs total), but this moment was something truly special. 💛

Here are some shots from our camping trip two weekends ago. It was definitely past peak in the San Juans, but we found a few pockets of orange and it made it worth it. We definitely need to go back when Fall is in it’s full glory 🧡
Also, if you didn’t see my update to my last post, Lulu’s mass ended up being a lipoma 🥹 best news ever. We are most likely going to start taking her to PT or shockwave therapy for her knee but for now we are happy that she doesn’t have anything more serious. Thanks for all the well wishes.

I tried to hold on to summer but it’s been such a beautiful fall that I had to share. A few weeks ago my parents were in town and we got to leaf peep all over and Mother Nature showed off. New screen saver unlocked.
We are heading south for a long weekend and I get to see a part of Colorado I’ve never seen before. Ethan is excited to show me some old stomping grounds. Hoping the leaves are peaking 🤞🏼
