So pumped, and still in shock, from landing, and releasing, this awesome fish.
.
Headed out on ’s boat with and we were blind-casting topwaters to kick-off morning. After about 15 minutes with no hits or follows, we bumped down to a different spot and saw a couple V-wakes coming toward us, and then past the boat.
.
Taking the good sign that we had at least some fish nearby, I casted the plug as far as I could into about five feet of water.
.
About halfway into the retrieve the plug just disappeared, sucked down into a black hole, which quickly turned into thrashing white water with the fishes broom tail splashing out of the water.
.
The fish didn’t take as many massive runs as I would have expected, but did continue to tow the boat across the flats, and changing directions.
.
I was nervous the whole fight because right away I felt a hook pull, and then constantly move the whole fight. I had to put enough pressure on the fish to get her to the boat, but I knew too much would pull the hooks out. — and sure enough, right when Mikey got the fish on the fish-grip and pulled her up, the hook fell right out.
.
We were amazed at how heavy she was; got a quick tape at over 50-inches, took some photos, and got her right back in the water to swim her alongside the boat before she kicked off strong!
.
