Adoption numbers for AI in engineering look strong. Impact numbers are harder to find. The gap between the two usually comes down to how deep the integration actually goes, whether AI is changing how products are conceived, or just how quickly some tasks get done.

In Episode 3 of the Capgemini - Times Techies series, Dr. Sudatta Kar, Vice President & Head of Engineering, Capgemini Engineering, India, explored a critical question for the future of intelligent engineering: Should organizations rebuild their R&D systems from the ground up, or reinvent the foundations they already have?

The discussion also delved into what it takes to move beyond isolated AI pilots and embed AI across the entire engineering value chain, from design and simulation to development, testing, and validation. It also examined the governance layer required to make responsible AI an integral part of the development lifecycle rather than an afterthought.

This World Environment Day, we strengthened our commitment to sustainability through impactful CSR initiatives across Bengaluru and Noida, under the Tinker Coding Program for Students (Phase 2) in collaboration with the SRF Foundation.

Our volunteers joined students, teachers, and the SRF Foundation team for a plantation drive, a collective sustainability pledge, and a tour of the Tinker Coding Labs. The students hosted and presented their own robotics prototypes and fielded real questions from our engineers and technologists, with several projects tackling environmental problems directly.

It was a day of learning, collaboration, and student-led innovation.

At Capgemini, we believe nurturing young minds through technology and sustainability is key to building a more responsible and resilient future.
