New year is off to a rough start but some things you should know about my uncle,Marc Henry Robinson, he would’ve found it funny. He would be so disappointed if I didn’t start putting myself back out there and do what I do on here.
My uncle while being a typical boomer Jamaican man in some instances, was never afraid of a challenging conversation and always heard people out. He kept an open mind and rarely ever judged. He did several tours in Iraq and Afghanistan (82nd Airborne) and I never understood how he could risk his life for a country that continuously disregarded black and brown folks but to be honest maybe he felt called to do it I guess. That’s a different conversation for another day and when I see him again I’ll be sure to ask.
Marc, was the youngest of my mom’s five siblings and so far she’s down to one. He was the fun uncle that taught me how to play video games (Tekken and Mortal combat specifically) but REFUSED to let me win just cause I was a little girl 😭🤣. “I’ll teach you enough to be good but not better than me! You gotta earn it!” Took me to the Rainforest Cafe when I was a kid whenever we would hang out just the two of us (IYKYK!! Some of yall don’t understand and I’m aging myself!)
