Exactly a year and a half since I made the decision to stop drinking Alcohol after struggling for many years to moderate my drinking and using it as a coping mechanism for Autism, ADHD and to escape trauma and anxiety.
The impact this decision has made on my entire life has been profound and transformative. I've met so many fantastic people in sobriety that I wouldn't have met if I was still drinking.
For a whole year and a half now I've been more productive, reliable and motivated. I've been functioning across the board. Actually no, I've been thriving for a massive portion of that time. That in turn has led to deeper bonds being forged with my family and friends and better relations with people I work with in Music.
I'm so much more creative and confident than ever and I've done a lot of work to improve my mental and physical health. After five hospitalisations in 2024, countless injuries and other dangerous situations I finally realised that in order to be the best version of myself I didn't have to have a drink, mask my emotions and hide away. I just have to show up as the most authentic version of myself. And that's what I'll continue to do.
To everyone who has supported me on this journey thank you from the bottom of my heart. And if you're on a similar journey know that it does get better and you are worthy of love and happiness ❤️🌞
I'm running Chester Marathon ( my first marathon this October) to fundraise for and make a difference to others in Recovery from Alcohol Addiction. I'm close to £500/£1000 of my fundraising goal.
