Swipe to read our joint statement for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
SSI hosted an IOF soldier who just got back from carrying out the largest human slaughter in history in Gaza. This is not just insensitive, but speaks volumes as to what SSI stands for; state violence, erasure, slaughter and the inferiority of Palestinian life.

The teachers strike was for the bare minimum: Smaller classrooms so every student can get the attention they need, fair pay after years without raises while inflation eroded their wages, and more staff to replace those burning out while partially raising children on the job. These are not radical demands, they are essentials for public education to function.
Instead of listening, Danielle Smithβs government spent millions of taxpayer dollars on a slander campaign against the very people who educate our children. When that failed, she introduced Billβ―2, a law designed to strip teachers and all Albertans, of our Charter rights, suspend local bargaining, punish protest, and signal the use of the Notwithstanding Clause to override our fundamental freedoms.
Teachers are not only striking for themselves. They are essential educators shaping the future of Alberta, providing students with the tools, knowledge, and guidance to think critically, research effectively, and build successful futures. Their fight is for the students, for public education, and for a society that values learning, opportunity, and civic responsibility.
Danielle Smith is not just another politician. She is a threat to our communities. She has publicly expressed interest in privatizing healthcare and education, and her approach to public services shows she sees people not as citizens, but as customers to be monetized. Billβ―2 is an attack on all of us, on our Charter rights, and on the very principle that human rights should protect us. It makes clear that our rights can be trampled, stepped on, and rendered meaningless whenever they become an obstacle to profit or convenience. Our freedoms are fragile, flimsily protected, and can be silenced at will. She is turning our essential services into privatized cash-grabbing machines, and in doing so, lays bare a vision for society that is cruel, calculating, and merciless.

We stand with the Alberta teachers and staff.
We stand united in this battle for our childrenβs education.
We stand for Truth. We stand for Justice.
From Turtle Island to Palestine.
This letter was sent to all current city council members and mayoral candidates β it was meant to be posted on Oct. 11 before the ambush. A reminder to them, and us all, that if they want our votes they must listen to the peopleβs voices, not the corporationsβ. Especially corporations that profit off of peopleβs blood.
EPCOR monopolizes Edmontonβs water and then forces our complicity. Meanwhile, people of honour, like Anas Al-Sharif previous to his martyrdom, have no access to clean water due to βIsraelβsβ siege (that did not begin on Oct. 7).
The decision to inconvenience Edmontonians going about their day is not made lightly. It is a consequence of years of silence and being ignored. It is not about perception but about the realization that these politicians MUST be pressured to move and act!
Put pressure on your politicians to revoke the bylaw and to force EPCOR to end this complicit partnership with Arad. And if they donβt, remind them of the Anas Al-Sharif Bridge.
We seek to open conversation and end our universities ties to supporting a system of apartheid and oppression against the Palestinian Indigenous people.
DISCLOSE, DIVEST! WE WILL NOT STOP, WE WILL NOT REST!
