Yesterday near Mt. Aukum in El Dorado County, firefighters stopped a fast-moving vegetation fire at just 3 acres after it was sparked by a vehicle driving through dry grass.
As temperatures rise and vegetation continues to dry out, vehicles can easily become an ignition source. Help prevent vehicle-caused wildfires:
* Never park or drive on dry grass.
* Keep your vehicle well maintained, including your exhaust system and catalytic converter.
* Make sure trailer chains and other metal parts are secured and don't drag on the roadway.
* Fix mechanical issues before they become fire hazards.
It only takes one spark. A few simple precautions can help protect our communities.
