I get a lot of requests for a list of tips I use on my cakes, and while I'm mostly happy to share bits and pieces of my cake knowledge, I am not a tutorial page and sometimes want you to enjoy the pretty video. But I also know what an incredible tool instagram was to me when I was a beginner baker and learning from other incredible cake artists. So I will endeavour to post more useful tips and tricks you can use in your baking and decorating so you can enjoy the art of caking as much as I do ❤️
This tip is a 16 star tip, and is petite and whimsical. I use it mostly for reverse shell borders seen here, as well as little heart and rosette details as its so petite. For a reverse shell border, you really need to start and finish the string in one go where possible for a clean line. You will need constant steady pressure, holding the tip about.5cm away from the cake to ensure there is enough pressure to get the icing to stick to your cake without smearing the shell finish. But some people struggle more with the pattern. Practice on a plate or the side of a bowl, find your rhythm or mantra. Mine is "over under over under" on repeat..

Constantly inspired by the incredible art from.
I own a few Edition pieces from previous series, but by far my most treasured is a red box I found in the first Brisbane #copyrightinfringement drop. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm so sorry you missed out on all the fun, and I'm glad you weren't my competition.
I was 8 months pregnant with my first daughter, and had been following the insta drop locations and racing around all morning. I went over the Gateway Bridge and took a gamble on going down Kingsford Smith Drive. Definitely NOT using my phone while driving, I saw she threw a red box out of the car window into some bushes which looked very similar to the bushes I was just driving past at that very second. So I slowed down but with nowhere to stop to the side, I just stopped my car in the middle of Kingsford Smith Drive, put my hazard lights on, climbed over the passenger seat with my big pregnant belly and nabbed the box in the bushes on the side of the road. Signed a few years later by CJ at the sandpit exhibit, now filled with Bugger bandaids, exhibit invitations, Slanguage and of course the prized shirts featuring Pam and Candice. I'm tempted to wear them but I know I never will.

That feeling when a pair of pants feels like they were tailored to your body.. 🤌❤️ The softest pink linen with the prettiest floral pops, this gorgeous set from Isabella Longginou was my latest cake design inspiration.
A couple of years ago, I made Isabella's baby shower cake and it was one of the very first vintage cakes I had made. I was so grateful to be included in such a glamorous celebration, and at the time I remember I had only 900 followers. Over the baby shower weekend and thanks to the exposure from that celebration, my followers grew, and most cake requests from then on were vintage cakes designs.
Since then, vintage cakes have become my niche and I feel so lucky to make gorgeous cakes as a job. I often reflect on my early cake days and am always so grateful for customers who have supported me from the beginning and continue to for every family celebration.
So now to work alongside Isabella in a creative capacity is a real "pinch me" moment. Thank you for creating such gorgeous pieces and for the beautiful set, which is already in regular wardrobe rotation 😍
