Mr. Ed was given to me about 14 years ago. He was an Appalachian Singlefoot which gave him a smooth unique extra gait. But it also meant he bucked like a bull. He put me on the ground many times 😅
It taught me a lot about getting back on the horse, literally and figuratively. Ed also had moonlight blindness, and eventually lost his eye completely. So we had to build a lot of trust together.
We won jousting competitions, we did shows. Many things that feel like an entire lifetime ago but still ring so close to my heart.
After I moved, allowed me to maintain ownership while allowing them to have Ed for lessons for children, veterans, etc.
He was a blessing to everyone near him. And he taught me so much.
I’ll miss you, buddy.
13 years ago, I started working as a personal trainer.
5 years ago, I started All in Fitness. A pandemic business.
Like many, in 2020, I got furloughed.
I started traveling to parks with workout equipment in a little red wagon to help myself and others keep their fitness and their minds during a tough time. But I knew I had to pivot quickly..
Because i was furloughed, it was difficult to get any loans at that time
I did what any normal person would do (not!) and I pulled my 401k and bet on myself to start all in fitness.
I barely slept or ate for the first year.. at least. I knew I could fail, I learned as I went, I knew the cdc could shut me down.
I went all in. No safety net. I knew I could fail
5 years later, here we are.
I couldn’t be more grateful.
I am so fortunate to love what I do day to day, I am so grateful for my clients. And I am grateful for anyone who whispered words of wisdom in my ear as I went.
There is more in store, the best is yet to come.

I will never forget the day things changed.

We were working together for some time and she had lost 60 pounds with me so far. She was going to the gym more and began enjoying it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But there was one day in particular I remember so vividly: Val stood in the mirror, put her hands on her hips, and said “I am an athlete.” That was the turning point when i fell in love with training. The changes on the outside were clear. But it was the confidence she radiated that was exhilarating.

She has since moved to South Carolina but she has continued on with her fitness journey with an excellent trainer
