One of the most exciting and challenging phases is pouring the concrete roof slab. It’s a highly demanding operation that must be completed without interruption, often requiring teams to work continuously, day and night, to ensure structural integrity.
In this project, our goal was to achieve a thin rooftop slab with an architectural concrete texture, particularly expressed in the frieze. This element became a defining feature of the design. Beyond its visual impact, it allows us to create extended cantilevers that help block direct sunlight from entering the interior through panoramic windows.
This is a great example of how architectural design can work as a passive climate strategy, reducing heat gain, improving comfort, and significantly lowering reliance on air conditioning, all while preserving clean views and aesthetic quality.
This single-story residence is located in the stunning surroundings of the Sacramento suburbs. Spanning 7,000 sq ft, it features multiple courtyards and cozy, intimate nooks.
The idea behind this project was to explore a new balance between the traditional coziness of American homes and the refined character of modern architecture, expressed in a luxurious way. I previously tested this approach in my own house, but here it evolves into a version where the budget is not the primary constraint.
The design emphasizes a strong connection with nature, using a timeless combination of wood and concrete, with corten steel as a bold accent material.
High ceilings and diverse living scenarios make this home both unique and exceptionally comfortable for everyday living.
Here I wanted to continue the same direction as the facades, so in the living room, the main feature is a gabion wall. You can also see a lot of wood and gray tile used throughout.
This is an interior about eco-friendly materials, without expensive or famous brands — just a rational and minimal approach.
In my studio, we call this concept “natural minimalism.”

For now, I want to show you the very first design concept of the house. The idea was to combine the traditional American style of timber-frame houses with modernism. I brought together three simple geometric volumes, emphasized them with contrasting materials and colors, and added large windows in every room. That’s the whole recipe for a modern home that blends into the neighborhood while still having its own unique character.
Looking ahead, I can say that in the end I felt this concept wasn’t quite enough, and I moved in a different direction. But I thought it would be nice to start the story with this very first version.
