These were a real test of patience and came to life over three days. I love/hate the tedium that comes along with this type of silly little baking experiment. These involved piping tuile batter, baking, filling with clear gel, and then dehydrating. Unfortunately, I lost four trying to pry them off the parchment 🥲 but still excited to try out some more glass-winged bugs.

Some experimental baking that isn’t particularly appetizing in real life. I had the idea to bake a cake that looks “correct” when its colours are inverted. This means dying the cake batter a horrifying shade of navy and making a teeth-staining black and dark green buttercream.
Inverting the colours—meaning flipping all colours to their opposite hue on the colour wheel—creates the quintessential pink and white “vanilla” cake images.

Trying out spinning animation and black light powders for this bake. Apparently tonic water and B vitamins glow in ultraviolet light, but I went the easy route and ordered some edible neon powders on Amazon. Cookie base and “moon” are ‘s oreo recipe from gourmet makes. The “sun” is a yellow cake with a Pocky/spaghetti corona.
