Bristol’s street food markets just hit different 🔥

Honestly, this city’s hospitality scene is built on street food, and Harbourside Market is undoubtedly one of the best spots for a huge range of cuisines and traders.

Open throughout the week and all weekend — even until 8:30pm on Saturdays!

This week marks one year since our first ever market at Harbourside.

JAWS started with a lot of messages, a lot of ideas, and the belief that Bristol deserved the best sandwiches.

At the start there was a lot of sandwich research. A lot of eating things and calling it development. A name. A logo. A first pizza oven. A fridge so big we had to take Will’s front door off. A second pizza oven. Testing events with friends. Our first nervous market. Then a few more markets. Then more sandwiches than I ever thought we’d make.

And through all of it, people have turned up. So thank you to our friends, family, regulars, first-timers, market neighbours, influencers, hungry people and everyone who has ever said something nice about us on the internet or told a mate to come down.

This Saturday 30th May, we’re back where we started at Harbourside for our 1st birthday. The first 50 sandwiches come with free a glass of bubbles from our friends at Harbourside Market

We’ll also be running birthday specials this week at our other markets:

Wednesday —
Thursday — Harbourside
Friday —
Saturday — Harbourside, 1st Birthday

Come and celebrate one year of JAWS with us!

Judging Britain’s biggest street food awards 🏆

Yes, I eat food for a living but I have never judged a food competition before so this was a new one for me! Thanks for having me and a massive congratulations to for making to the finals in September!

Also, massive shout outs to and for helping me eat all of the food - it was a pleasure to share the floor with ya! 🫶

Judging ❤️

I felt so honoured to be asked to judge the South West heats alongside and today!

We spent the day trying everything from wagyu burgers to Canadian-style doughnuts and jerk chicken 🌮🍔

What I loved most was hearing the stories behind each business. You could really see how much care, hard work and creativity goes into street food, and why these awards matter so much. are all about championing independent food businesses and finding the next generation of incredible street food traders.

Huge congratulations to the judges winner 🐟

The monkfish dish was such a standout and felt restaurant quality. Brilliant produce cooked really well.

Big shoutout too to our runners up and ❤️

And congrats to the People’s Choice winners
With and as runners up

Good luck to everyone heading to the nationals and hopefully the European heats next ⭐️

* we donated our time for this event, and weren’t paid, however recieved complimentary meals as we were judging 💸
Dessert gets theatrical at Sizzling Scoop, where fried ice cream crackles with Caribbean bravado and croissants flirt shamelessly with indulgence. It’s part patisserie, part performance—textures clash, temperatures surprise and everything is plated with Instagram in mind. A sugar rush with ambition, aiming to prove that pudding can steal the spotlight from savoury. But will they win your vote, and go through to the British Street Food Awards finals on September 4-6? And, just maybe, the European Street Food Awards finals on September 18-20? Come along to Harbourside Market and decide for yourself - results on Sunday!

Black as night and gloriously unpretentious, this converted cattle truck serves burgers that border on decadent obsession. British wagyu, treacle-cured bacon and buns sourced with near-pilgrimage devotion come together in a stack that’s both excessive and exacting. It’s a rolling contradiction: streetwise on the outside, quietly luxurious within. But will the Wagyu Burger Truck win your vote, and go through to the British Street Food Awards finals on September 4-6? And, just maybe, the European Street Food Awards finals on September 18-20? Come along to Harbourside Market and decide for yourself - results on Sunday!

Bristol’s self-appointed warriors don’t brandish swords. They come wielding spice-lacquered birria tacos that demand a napkin and a moment of silence. Under the command of Ed Kirby—crowned Street Food Chef of the Year 2025 at Dine Out Magazine’s Street Food Championships in London—the operation balances swagger with substance. Expect rich consommé, deeply savoury fillings and a supporting cast of sides that refuse to be afterthoughts. It’s street food with a medal chest and just enough humility to keep things deliciously dangerous. But will they win your vote, and go through to the British Street Food Awards finals on September 4-6? And, just maybe, the European Street Food Awards finals on September 18-20? Come along to Harbourside Market and decide for yourself - results on Sunday!

The Joy & Gladness signature Jerk Chicken is a bold, authentic celebration of Afro‑Caribbean flavour and technique. “We marinate the chicken for 24 hours in our house jerk blend, layering fresh herbs, spices, Scotch bonnet, and aromatics to build depth, heat, and character. It’s then cooked low and slow for tenderness, before being finished with a smoky, fire‑kissed glaze that gives it that unmistakable Caribbean edge.” Expect live fire cooking - and heat to the max. But will these Food St favourites win your vote, and go through to the British Street Food Awards finals on September 4-6? And, just maybe, the European Street Food Awards finals on September 18-20? Come along to Harbourside Market and decide for yourself - results on Sunday!

EAT. DRINK. VOTE.

The South West Heat of the 2026 British Street Food Awards lands at Harbourside Market, Bristol this weekend — and YOU decide who heads to the national finals in Sheffield this September. Your vote counts. With ‘South West’ now stretching gloriously from the West of London to East of St Ives, the choice will be EPIC. Geography teachers look away…

🌮 Gourmet Warriors — swaggering birria tacos, rich consommé and zero respect for clean shirts.

🥘 Riceminster Paella — saffron-loaded paella from a man who’s judged MasterChef.

🍗 Gurt Wings — 30+ WingFest titles backed up by serious crunch and sauce.

🐟 Loluli’s — coal-fired Devon seafood with smoke, sea air and understated class.

🔥 Firestarter BBQ — collapsing ribs, overloaded fries and postcode-level smoke signals.

🍔 The Wagyu Burger Truck — British wagyu and treacle-cured bacon from a graffiti-covered cattle truck.

🌶 Joy & Gladness — 24-hour jerk marinades and Caribbean heat done properly.

🍨 Sizzling Scoop — fried ice cream and sizzling croissants with no interest in restraint.

🍩 Flats Doughnuts — plant-based doughnuts piled high with flair.

🥟 Apocalypse Bao — pillowy bao packed with bold plant-based fillings.

🧀 Macman — molten mac and cheese croquettes proving deep-frying still matters.

🧇 Waffle Wands — waffles on sticks somewhere between dessert and performance art.

🔥 The Street Taverna — smoky souvlaki and sheftalies cooked low and slow.

Grab a ballot paper from the voting gazebo, drop it into your favourite trader’s box, and help crown the South West’s best street food trader - the People’s Choice.

Our judges, including legendary hype man BoS Finesse, Michelin-starred chef Jan Ostle and super influencer Janine Alexander, will choose the overall South West Champion.

Both winners will head to the British Street Food Awards Finals in Sheffield, 4–6 September. And, if they win there, the European Street Food Awards Finals in Saarbrucken, 18-20 September.

Come hungry. Come thirsty. Come ready to vote.
