Whilst Djambawa paints fire crocodiles and lightning, Liyawaday paints butterflies, floodplains and brolgas. Gunybi's metal works draw on the rippling patterns of water-goannas splashing within the spring fringed by rushes. Lamangirra focusses on the ragged chop of the wind- driven waves as they hit the shore of Grindall Bay. Garawan paints the artesian water spilling out of the memorial pole placed over the font at low tide. His wife Manini shares a fascination with pastel-toned ochre admixtures but in a different palette and with a completely different narrative."

Wanapati was selected as one of just eight finalists from a pool of 760 artists, with each finalist representing a state or territory of Australia.
His selected work, Gurtha, draws on the sacred Gumatj design for fire and the ancestral story of the first fire on Gumatj Country. The repeating diamond pattern carries this knowledge, embodying the flames, smoke, ash and charcoal of the fire as it travelled across Country, connecting people, animals and places through ancestral events.

Originator of the Found movement, Gunybi Ganambarr has had six solos at Annandale Galleries spanning over two decades. The Yolŋu artist, working from his remote hometown of Gängän, has produced some of the most groundbreaking work of his generation. Under Ganambarr’s hand, the mass and rigidity of reclaimed metal seemingly melts away, often representing reservoirs and springs of the Ŋaymil/Datiwuy clans.
Ganambarr’s work now resides in every major institution in the country, as well as international collections such as the Metropolian Museum of Art, New York. His awards include the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award (2018), the Western Australian Indigenous Art Award (2011), and the Xstrata Coal Emerging Indigenous Artist Award (2008). In 2026 he was notably featured in the Biennale of Sydney at White Bay Power Station, and was a finalist in both Wynne and Sulman Prizes, Art Gallery of New South Wales.
His work will be on display with us at Booth A05, Carriageworks 3-6 September

Among the works included in is this incredible 200 × 200 cm painting on board, 'From the wetlands to the coast', which Yalmakany discusses in this video.
Since settling in Yirrkala in 2022, Yalmakany has dedicated herself to painting full-time at Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Art Centre, drawing on her deep knowledge of Yolŋu Country and the plants, foods and medicines it provides. This knowledge has been passed down to her through generations, including from her mother, the late Mulkun Wirrpanda, who also exhibited with the gallery.
