On a more serious note this weekend took on Snowdon (& Crib Goch)

After being stuck in traffic for twice as long as expected on Friday, we ended up seeing the Northern light to make up for it

On Saturday all 12 of us left at 07:00 to take on Snowdon

We took the miners track up but after reaching the top & decided to go back via Grib Goch (not knowing what to expect)

8 hours later after finally making our way across the knife edged ridges we made it to the other side where we were greeted with the danger signs casually stating “extreme scramble” and “potential need of rope”

Nevertheless we made it back with just a couple scratches, a bit of sun burn, a nice heat stroke and a lot of sore muscles the day after.

All in all I would rate it and RPE 5, would definitely do it again and can’t wait for the top set when joins next time 😉😏

SBD Cup Recap:

Squat 3/3:
152.5 ✅
160 ✅
165 ✅ (New IPF PB)

Bench 2/3:
132.5 ✅
135 ✅
137.5 ❌(Bum came off the bench)

Deadlift 3/3:
197.5kg ✅
202.5kg ✅
210kg ✅ (NEW IPF PB)

First competition in the Netherlands. Due to a small error I weighed in at 80kg (evening time) after celebrating birthday. I ended up cutting down to 73kg in 7 days to compete in the 74kg class.

The goal of this comp was to be conservative and qualify for the Dutch Bench Championship in 3 weeks (1 October). I managed to do that both in the 74 & 83kg class.

I decided that 74kg is just too light for me and after looking at the other competitors I decided to just start a bulk up to 83kg and just be a light 83kg lifter for my next comp.

My 9 year fitness journey 🏋️‍♂️

The first 5 years I was obsessed with being lean and would be dieting down to around/below 70kg multiple times per year. This has hindered a lot of my strength and muscle progress. ⛔️

After that I started to develop a healthier relationship with food and scale weight. I stopped worrying too much about having an 8 pack and decided to focus more on strength. This is also when I did my first ever powerlifting competition which was followed by two years of lockdown and a lot of partying. 🍾

Fast forward to the last year (year 8/9). I started taking powerlifting more serious and started working with coach in order to improve my technique (which needed/still needs quite a lot of improvement). I competed in the 83kg weight class whilst only weighing around 77-78kg just to get familiar with the sport and somehow made it to the British nationals. 💪🏻

However now that I have some experience I want to start taking it more serious food wise and even compete in the 74kg weight class which will put me on quite a low body fat for powerlifting. 🔥

If everything goes well, this might be followed by a bodybuilding competition if I am already somewhat lean anyways 😏

National British Bench Press Championship Recap 🔥

132.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
140kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
147.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ (2.5kg meet PR)

Managed to get 9/9 white lights. On top of that I managed to hit a 2.5kg personal record with 147.5kg.

The goal of this competition was to improve my technique, bum lifted off the bench last two competition, which is exactly what I did with the 9 white lights and the 2.5kg is a nice extra.

I came 7th out of 16, but that is since I am turning 24 this year and had to compete in the open class for the first time. I was also still 3kg under weight while eating pizzas the day before and morning off. On top of that my belt got disapproved last minute so I had to lift without. Since I didn’t do a cut before my competition and I didn’t have my belt, I can definitely do much better next time.

Thank you & for the coaching during my prep and help with my technique. Thank you for the support & videos/photos.

Meet recap:

Squat: 165 (+5kg meet pr)
Bench: 142.5kg (+7.5 meet pr)
Deadlift: 215kg (+25kg meet pr)

I went 7/9 this competition which I am quite happy with considering the fact I was sick for a week leading up to the competition. Having lost 3 kilos in the progress so I weighed in at 77.7kg.
