given the release of my brand-new #Elgar #CelloConcerto interpretation with amazing & #NDRRadiophilharmonieHannover yesterday on youtube, i thought it would be fun to compare this iconic opening in my 3 versions now available online 🤓
all performed live and in very different settings, they apparently vary quite a bit in timing, but in the end i am always trying to capture both the nobility and tragedy of this concerto already in the first seconds. my latest rendition aims to honour the composer’s wish of a rather flowing tempo (♩= 56) which is rarely heard…
