Tote (preferably one that is shallow with a clear lid so it’s easy to see and find what you need.)
Camp Stove & Fuel (one with a griddle plate for more versatility & ease cooking.)

Utensil Organizer (as simple as zippered pouches or as fancy as our alpaca case)
Utensils & Cookware (you can snag some from the thrift store, dollar store, or use old ones you already have. Look for nesting pots and pans to save space.)
Cleaning Supplies (small rag, biodegradable soap, scrubber, wet wipes, hand sanitizer. You can use the bin as a sink or find a collapsible one.)

🧊 Pre-cool your cooler the night before. Put fresh ice in when you’re ready to go!
🧊 Use ice packs or blocks, instead of ice cubes, because they take longer to melt.
🧊 Make your own ice packs by filling old bottles & cartons with water & freezing.
🧊 For extended trips freeze the meals you’ll eat towards the end.
🧊 Use a cooling rack to keep food off the ice or easy to grab off the top.
🧊 Try and keep the lid closed as much as possible! And find a shady spot at camp to place your cooler.

I no longer felt safe taking my kids for walks in the city after we were hit by a car while in a crosswalk so we would escape to the mountains - our happy place. My son who had broken his neck & lost function on one side of his body loved being outdoors, you could tell it was peaceful for him.
He was determined & didn’t give up though. He learned to crawl & walk again, and eventually started hiking. The trails turned out to be the best therapy and we saw so much progress. He proved all the doctors wrong & defied the odds by doing more than we ever thought he would.
I watched him trying to keep up with the other kids on the trail this weekend, & although you could tell he was frustrated, i was reminded how far this amazing boy has come. He truly is a walking miracle.
Not only did nature bring us peace through hard times, but it really did heal us.
