While training together at a local climbing gym, they responded immediately when an individual experienced a sudden medical emergency. They initiated CPR, coordinated seamlessly with another healthcare professional to deliver compressions, and utilized an AED to provide defibrillation. Their organized, team-based response helped restore a pulse prior to the arrival of EMS.
“Honestly, everything just went into autopilot,” said Rodriguez. “Our training kicked in immediately, and we focused on doing what we knew needed to be done.”
Stanley added, “I am thankful that we were able to help and that our knowledge and skills overpowered the fear and stress of the situation. It makes me appreciate and realize the importance of our training and reminds me how quickly things can happen.”
Stanley and Rodriguez have since learned that their actions saved the person’s life. We are incredibly proud of their swift, skilled response and the compassion they bring to every situation.
