A sound bite of my personal design journey and some ramblings on dreaming big. ⁣

I don’t share many personal things on here. But feeling a little sappy, sort of self-important Sunday rambling to anyone that cares to divulge 😆⁣

Many moons ago, in 2012 I remember sitting in design school asking teachers questions about how to turn this interest of mine into a career. Like a real, legitimate business that I would be proud of, that others would connect with & one that I could support my (someday in the distant future) family with. and I remember feeling frustrated that my question was met with a sideways almost patronizing “don’t put the cart before the horse” kind of look. I was young & perhaps a little naive, full of inflated self confidence but I KNEW IT. I knew that deep down inside I could WOULD do this.⁣

A few weeks later I landed a design internship with a small, one wo(man) show working from her dining room table. She had a spark in her eye and that same take your breath away, scares you a little, over-confidence that she had a unique design point of view to share. I distinctly recall sitting on the 101 coming back from a job in Thousand Oaks & she told me she’d publish a book someday. ⁣

She had no business saying this. {continued in comments}
These clients. This view. This thing I get to call “work”. Grateful is an understatement. ⁣

A fun few days in CA installing a project I started nearly 2 years ago. Not quite done, but getting oh so close! Excited for the full reveal to come. ⁣

Now back home to my babies!
A successful project is alllll about the team behind you helping to bring your vision to life. SO fortunate for the many talented makers and artisans & competent, detail-oriented trades who help with all the behind the scenes coordination to get a design like this to the finish line. My ideas without these guys are just that— ideas! Scroll to see this custom entry cabinet come to life. ⁣ you guys are everything! 🫶🏼

… Ever wonder what the day to day of an interior designer looks like?! Coordination of small details like slide 4 are what fill most of my days, not picking paint or karate chopping pillows 😜
All in favor of a year round fall color palette, say I! 🙌🏼⁣

We worked this client’s existing bistro table into the design of this quaint kitchen banquette and its zinc top & patina’d frame play off the range’s copper hood for the perfect combo of mixed metals.
saturday saves & fall faves. ⁣

what’s my personal style you ask? I like to think it’s classic & rooted in timeless elements (think materials & architectural details) but with those unexpected pops that add depth & distinction to a space. Spaces that play with the juxtaposition and tension between opposites: masculine / feminine, old / new, contemporary & traditional. I love a pop of color or pattern & lighting that gives a space a little edge or quirkiness. You too?! Reach out! Let’s make magic together ⚡️⁣

Grateful for clients past & present that have entrusted me to help guide them through their renovation journeys to create a home for their families to connect, recharge and entertain in.

So excited for this particular project to come to fruition— Kara is effortlessly “cool” with a unique design point of view all her own. These are the collaborative projects I live for & where the real magic of creating a meaningful, one-of-a-kind home happens ✨ It’s going to be a fun one I can’t wait to bring you along for!
We shot our Montecito project nearly a year ago and since, the landscape has all matured and this pergola has filled with beautiful vines. It’s the ultimate backyard retreat complete with a citrus orchard.🍊 ⁣⁣

Heading into the weekend filled with gratitude for all the love & support of our latest work we’ve been sharing. Diving into some new exciting projects local to Denver and others in CA that I can’t wait to share & have you follow along with. Happy weekend to you and yours! ⁣⁣

It’s such a breath of fresh air when a client comes to you with their own unique design POV and doesn’t want to repeat what you’ve seen done all over the internet before. ⁣✨

We’ve had so much fun slowly working our way through this home infusing color and pattern in every space. ⁣(Peep the Dahlia highlight on my profile for more!)

The latest: a nursery for a little lady that is fun, but not overly “cute” or “baby”, girly but not *too* girly, and dare I say a little sophisticated?! A space that will someday transition from nursery to a little girls room with ease and will grow with her over time. Excited to see all the pieces of the puzzle come together on this one!
The perfect shade, “Galápagos Green,” by Benjamin Moore on this pair of custom painted Jenny Lind beds in one of our favorite children’s rooms. I love all the layers we worked into the linens of this sweet girls’ bedroom.
A career highlight for BWI & a pinch me moment indeed! Thrilled to share that our Montecito project will be featured in the Sept / Oct print issue of California Homes magazine! This image didn’t make the final cut so I can now officially share it with you 🖤 ⁣⁣

The restoration of this Spanish Colonial Revival by esteemed architect Wallace Neff was a labor of love & collaboration between so many talented disciplines including and gn. It was an absolute privilege to work in collaboration with these two among other makers & artisans and of course my lovely clients to build a space appointed for modern living while preserving this beautiful home’s historic foundation. Apologizing in advance for spamming you with all the beautiful images to come. Shot by & styled by & ⁣

Extra special shoutout to contractor extraordinaire. Seriously— he was such a huge asset and partner to have on board to bring this project to completion. There were so many twists & turns along the way as there are when opening up the walls of a century old home, but he showed up each and every day with the most positive can-do attitude ready to problem solve & put us all at ease. Oh yea and he even plastered this lamp for us on the spot when we decided we didn’t love the original finish on it ‼️ Lastly, thanks to my fab design assistant and travel buddy for tagging along and helping with this shoot. It was so much fun having you by my side 🤍⁣
