2025 stretched me, softened me, and asked me to trust myself in new ways.
There were moments of doubt, growth, deep gratitude, and so much learning—but I’d choose it all again.
Thankful for the people who showed up, encouraged me here, trusted me with their stories, and reminded me why I love this work so much.
Walking into 2026 excited, hopeful, and committed to creating from the heart. 🤍
Some places raise you.
And then, one day, you have to learn how to say goodbye to them.

This beach has been part of Melina’s story since she was little — the same stretch of sand she’s brought her own kids to again and again. And while a new opportunity is calling them somewhere that feels right, it also means leaving behind a place that holds so much of their becoming.

Within five minutes of our session, one of the kids plopped straight into the water, fully dressed, digging for treasures like it was second nature. And instead of frustration, Melina just smiled and said, “I wouldn’t have it any other way. This is what the beach means to us.” Sandy clothes and all.

She took a deep breath and ran in after them.

I’ve photographed this family before, and it’s always been a joy, but this session felt the most true. The most honest. The most them. Not perfect, just a family honoring what this place has given them before turning the page.

My heart feels full this week watching families hold their people a little closer, soak in familiar places, and celebrate stories that matter. I’m endlessly grateful that this kind of family photography found me — the kind that’s about connection, legacy, and telling the story as it really is.
Some wedding days just keep unfolding surprise after surprise for their guests and this was one of them.

Charlie, their sweet pup, woven into the day in the most intentional ways.

Jody & Mike throwing T-shirts through the crowd like a concert finale.

Mike jumping on stage to play with his band—turning the night into a full-on concert moment.

A first dance made unforgettable by the groom’s dad singing Frank Sinatra, a moment that stopped time in the very best way.

Every part of this day was layered with intention, joy, and heart. It didn’t just celebrate a wedding—it told their story.

And truly… the absolute best couple.

My eyes are on fire. My back now identifies as a 75-year-old. And the way my words are tumbling out, I’m one sleepless night away from speaking pure gibberish.

But somehow… somehow… I’m still so grateful. This year in business has stretched me, healed me, and made me feel more connected than ever.

And this session on the foggy beach? Had me scrolling Zillow listings in California like I was ready to pack up the kids, sale my house and relocate.

Funny how a place can catch you off guard and whisper, “You belong here,” even if just for a moment.
Come BTS with me to a slow morning session — the kind where no one’s rushing out the door and the moments just happen on their own. #SponsoredbySony

With winter right around the corner, we’re stepping into a season of cozy days at home and more time with the people we love. The tiny, ordinary moments start to feel extra special — and this has always been one of my favorite seasons to photograph families.

I used the 7R V paired with my 28-70 f/2.0 GM for this session.

A few reasons I reach for the Alpha 7R V every single time:

• AI Autofocus Technology that tracks kids as they move — so you don’t have to ask them to slow down or repeat a moment
• 61 megapixels so you can stay present and gently reframe later without losing quality
• Flip screen that lets you shoot from above, below, or tucked in close without interrupting the connection

And the best part?
You don’t need to be a professional photographer to use it. It’s intuitive, forgiving, and supports the kind of everyday storytelling that feels easy and natural.

Whether you’re photographing clients or simply trying to capture your own family in a way that feels true — it meets you where you are.

If you’ve been wanting to document your family more this winter (especially during holiday gatherings and slow days at home)… the Alpha 7R V is currently $900 off for the season.

Comment Sony and I’ll send the direct link.
Currently in my “I swear I’m being productive” era… which mostly looks like me wandering around the house, starting 12 tasks, finishing none, and pretending it counts as progress.
We spent this session doing what this family loves most —fishing, wandering, and exploring without much of a plan. The boys caught three fish in under ten minutes, which honestly made me consider taking my boys fishing here.

Everything about it felt like childhood…climbing trees, laughing on the dock, and letting the location guide the story.
I have so many sessions being delivered right now, and I’m hoping to share more soon. In the middle of sending out galleries, it’s hard to slow down and plan an IG post — but I’m almost wrapped up with my 2025 shooting season, and feeling really grateful.

Grateful for this work.
Grateful for these families.
Grateful for nights like this.
I flew to South Carolina for this one and my heart is still sitting on their front porch.

Hillary used to live in my little town in Logan while her husband attended Utah State. We would cross paths here and there during sessions, so being invited into their space years later, to see what life has grown into, felt really special.

Their home is beautiful, but it was their evening rhythm that truly stayed with me. The hydrangeas by the fence, the way they pause in the doorway together, the slow walk around the neighborhood after dinner. Life exactly as it happens.

And this sweet boy. The one they prayed and waited for. Watching him in their arms felt like witnessing the gentlest kind of miracle. Quiet, steady, tender.

This session felt like a love letter to home.
To patience.
To everyday life being more than enough.
This year, I’ve been leaning deeper into photographing families in the places that already matter to them.

Like this orchard in Milwaukee.
Their yearly tradition.
Their soft, familiar kind of love.

It felt like stepping into a memory already in motion.
