Yesterday, we asked families to share photos of their little warriors with their Bravery Buddies. One of the beautiful messages we received came from Luci's mum, Morgan.
Luci was diagnosed with leukaemia in November 2023 and received her Bravery Buddy in January 2024.
More than two years later, Luci still adores her buddy.
Her mum told us:
"She is still obsessed to this day and tells everyone and anyone that her buddy also had cancer."
Those words hit us right in the heart.
One of the reasons Bravery Buddies exist is because so few dolls and toys truly represent the experiences of children facing cancer and medical hair loss. Every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the toys they love, and to know they are not alone.
What makes this story even more special is that after Luci's diagnosis, her family began raising funds to support charities and families facing similar challenges. In April 2024, they generously donated $2,000 to Bravery Buddies to help other children receive a buddy of their own.
Morgan, thank you for sharing Luci's journey with us. Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping us continue our mission.
