This is one of the last posts from our series of 'We Did an Instagram Poll'.
We see most of us are in therapy and have doctors, but our system needs to do better by each one of us. Our professionals need more training. This is not a post pointing fingers. This is thee reality of the community. We need compassion and care and empathy.
It also shows that it takes time to find the right therapist and the right medication. We have competent doctors, but not a patient doctor ratio, not an efficient system. It shows we can do better as an ecosystem and help each other.
It also shows that therapies that have worked are full of compassion, care, inner work, self work, going back to the self and lifelong skills.
This also gives a sense to our professionals what we require and need 🌻
The pain is a lot, but let us together help each other ❤️🌼🌠

We all have different ways of managing our pain. Some of us use substances.
Some of us can take time to recover. But recovery is not linear, my love. It is an ongoing process.
The good news is most of us have an intent to recover. Recovery means being able to manage our symptoms. It is not magic. I wish it was. It is a journey we all go on.
But, we can manage one moment at a time. We are hopeful as a community.
Milana and I started this page to find a community. It turns out giving back to the people, makes us feel we have a higher purpose, we belong. A lot of us feel having a routine helps because it helps our brain and body find alignment. When we are grateful we are embracing the positive, our progress, instead of getting scared of the scarcity of joy.
Being grateful is one of the prime reasons that I am here, alive waiting each month to meet our people, to share our experiences. It could be something like serving at a community kitchen, educating each other, donating blood, anything that helps us become a part of something, belong.
So I hope belong you may, belong you and I feel, connected we see, together we heal. 🌻

Adverse Childhood Experiences come in many forms. Sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, neglect, an unhealthy environment at home, domestic violence etc.
It makes us lose our connection with ourselves. We don't feel safe within ourselves or our environment while growing up.
We expect our God or spirit or universe or religion, a higher power to protect us. But, when it does not, we lose connection to the higher self, the energy as well. Nightmares often become a part of our wounded subconscious, because the body always keeps the score.
Our gut and our mind is related. Our gut health is affected negatively, we are tired. Often constipated, vomiting for no apparent reason. But, if you read about psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology it will know that the entire body is interconnected. The body will show signs. Yes, mental illness is not visible for the longest time as they say, but the body will tell you.
Healing is going back to our innocent self. That loves, is authentic, is not ashamed, is true to oneself, believes and safe within oneself and others. 🌻

One of the hallmark that comes with BPD is unstable interpersonal relationships. This means that we often have difficulty in relationships. A lot of it stems from childhood trauma, genetics and environmental conditions.
That being said, with time and consistent therapy or self work/ treatment, people with BPD are able to manage their triggers and relationships as well.
We are empathetic people, we feel a lot more than one can comprehend, it can sometimes take over our best. For me personally, a structured environment of work that is semi flexible but has mentors and freedom and compassion works very well. Recently, I got a job offer at an MNC, and I did not go ahead. You'd say why? Because I can't compromise my mental health. I can't work 24*7 with deadlines looping and shaming culture. I can't work without empathy and I am someone who takes my work very seriously. So, yes the MNC was great, but never greater than my health.
I struggle in romantic relationships all the time as well as family. It's a major trigger for me. And yes, I do split.
But, I love, learn, and relapse too. It's scary for me because the pain is too much. Therapy helps.
But, it does not mean people with BPD cannot hold relationships or work. We are some of the most hardworking, ethical, sensitive people you might find. And most of all, you're not alone in this.

The DSM V says that 'Completed suicides occurs in 8% to 10% individuals experiencing BPD and self - mutilative acts (Eg- cutting, burning), suicide threats and attempts are very common. Recurrent suicidality is often the reason that these individuals present for help. These self - destructive acts are usually precipitated by threats of separation or rejection or by expectations that the individual assumes increased responsibility. Self - mutilation may occur during dissociative experiences and often brings relief by reaffirming the ability to feel or by expiating the individual's sense of being evil'
That being said, there is a massive gap between treatment. There needs to be compassion in care. Hospitalisation should not feel unsafe for people who already feel threatened. We need our professionals to be more empathetic.
The truth is that despite all this, most of us have a living side, it's the pain that is unbearable that we want to end. Not, ourselves. Not our lives. That is the hope we hold onto. It's painful, but it's possible, together with the community, with the professionals, with family and friends and love and compassion. Recovery is possible. And if you relapse like we do, it's okay. You're not any less, your worth is not any less, whatever wherever you have reached is enough, you are enough. A relapse only means to go deeper, to search deeper to find oneself deeper.
