Somewhere in the Fall of 2024 I arrived in Berlin with one luggage, my film camera, and an empty soul that went through years of wandering in darkness.
I spent the year walking.
Sometimes looking for photographs.
Sometimes looking for myself.
A child hidden in a shopping cart.
A tower disappearing into fog.
Fireworks turning streets into battlefields.
Trees reflected in still water.
People becoming performances.
Feet becoming sculptures.
Cars becoming fire.
Love becoming light.
Berlin has a strange way of showing you things twice:
first with your eyes,
then with your life.
These photographs are fragments from that first orbit.

I think my favorite thing about this place is how unique it is. Music and coffee is a combo that works as well as peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti and meatballs, or two joints and the FEBO counter. But what makes this place in particular stand out is the listening station and the DJ turntable at the coffee bar. The barista can play whatever they want from any of the vinyl records; when I was in yesterday, it was a mix of funk, jazz, and old school hip hop. The flat white and cortado that I ordered were both excellent. Creamy, nutty, with just the right amount of that espresso bite that I look for. My snack of choice was the lemon cake with bergamot, and it was delicious also. I think I ate it in less than a minute. My favorite part was the room in the back. With large windows, about 200 books, a chess set, and multiple sketchbooks, THIS is the area where you can allow the creative juices to flow freely. This is what makes this place stand out to me. You get the vibe that this is a neighborhood gathering spot as opposed to a place tourists go to. Happy to say that this is my neighborhood spot now. The banter, great coffee, great music, great environment that encourages creativity; to me, THIS is what Amsterdam is about. The openness. The coffee gets an 8.5/10 from me, it was delicious and fairly priced. The snack gets a 7/10 from me. The ambience gets an 12/10. This is the spot you go to when you have an idea for a poem, or lyrics to a song you’re writing, or a sketch that you want to draw. If you’re a creative personality in Amsterdam, go to this spot.
