Geöffnet ist meine Ausstellung im genannten Zeitraum immer sonntags zwischen 14:30 und 17 Uhr.
Das Müllerhaus Brunsbrock ist ein etwa 200 Jahre altes unter Denkmalschutz stehendes Fachwerkhaus und nach umfangreichen Umbau- und Renovierungsmaßnahmen heute ein beliebter Veranstaltungsort für allerlei Kulturelles und Touristisches. Nebenan steht eine ebenfalls denkmalgeschützte Windmühle, alles in allem also ein richtig idyllischer Ort im Grünen - heutzutage kann man das durchaus als "cozy" bezeichnen 😊
Ich freue mich schon sehr und kann es kaum erwarten! Stecke schon seit einer Weile mittendrin in den Vorbereitungen, deshalb war's hier sehr ruhig. Ich freu mich über jeden, der vorbeikommt! ❤️

After just three finished artworks in 2024, I'm happy to report that I made more art this past year! At least one drawing per month, to be precise. Last time I achieved that goal was in 2022. Afterall, being creative and bringing ideas to life is essential for an artist's wellbeing - which was necessary after a year of ups and downs.
At the beginning of 2025, I found solace in overly detailed colour pencil drawings while I watched a loved one go through chemo, surgery and chemo again for esophageal cancer. Art always helped in difficult situations, this time it was no different. The year got better, in spring I spent many hours on my bike in nature, birdwatching. I saw a Violet Carpenter Bee for the first time. Tried new delicious recipes. Met an old friend after nearly a decade. Looked at art in a beautiful place, the same place I will hold my very own solo exhibition in May 2026. Finished two artworks I abandoned years ago. Watched the total lunar eclipse in awe.
All those beautiful moments came to a screeching halt in September, when my beloved cat Heini got diagnosed with several tumours. A month later, on October 16th, I lost my little fluffy friend after 13,5 years 💔 It was utmost horrible and continues to haunt me. I miss him so much.
Once again, I tried to turn my grief into creativity, but this time it only worked in parts. For example, the new (and last) season of "Stranger Things" caused me to work with cardboard and translucent paper on a recreation of the beautiful stained glass window rose. Afterwards, an art block hit and has yet to leave me. I'm just hoping the new year won't be as... whatever you may call 2025.

New artwork that - again - took way longer than I thought (drawing sessions over 30 days) 😬
Also finally trying my metallic gloss-paint markers for the first time on the floral elements ✨️
The title, "Glandarius", is Latin, meaning "acorn-bearing".
Inspiration for this piece came from
1) a gorgeous picture in my weekly bird calender with several Eurasian Jays;
2) reading "The Colour Of Revenge", book 4 of Cornelia Funke's "Inkheart" series - in book 2, the character Mortimer (played by Brendan Fraser in the "Inkheart" movie adaption) takes on the role of a mysterious gentleman-robber called the "Bluejay", who wears a mask made of the Eurasian Jay's unique blue-white-black feathers. Note the cute little bird I sketched years ago to remind me of the book release 🤭

Dearest lovely Heini,
my fluffy little best friend. Every day without you hurts so deeply. You were the sweetest little cat anyone could wish for. You would bring so much joy into this house, with your adorable black-white tuxedo fur and your happy pug-tail.
We found you at just a few weeks old in the old barn, where your stray cat mama had you and your two siblings. At just six months old, we rescued you after you got hit by a car. After that, you became a house cat - safe from the dangers of the cruel outside world.
You were always there for nearly half my life, happily greeting me whenever I would come home from school or, in later years, work. You accompanied me throughout the darkest times in my life, lighting my mood on horrible days because I could just bury my face in your soft fur and listen to you softly meowing and purring.
You loved chasing the sun light reflections coming off the disco ball in the window. You loved to lay on your tiny carpet in front of the fireplace in winter. You would lounge next to me whenever I was drawing at my desk late at night; afterwards, you would give the sweetest cuddles and purrs before putting yourself to sleep in my bed. You would loudly demand getting your daily dose of belly rubs.
Thank you for giving us another month together.
I hope you are at peace now and free of pain.
Missing you hurts so incredibly much.

For this drawing, I tried several compositions beforehand - this was the final decision because it looks like the bird is sitting in a tiny swing made of flowers (aww ♡)
Ever since I came across a photo of Iris barbata-elatior "Superstition", I knew I had to draw it one day - some of those petals are almost black, a real Goth flower 🖤
