It started with an invite to join a press trip to Big White, with an assignment to cover the trip for -my very first travel story, on what to do in Big White besides ski.
That led to a blogger/media trip to Summerland, followed by my first beyond-the-border (and first solo) press trip to San Diego.
The more I travelled and wrote about my experiences, the further I ventured, the more bylines I secured, and the more passionate I became about what would turn into a decade-long career doing a job I love.
That was the year it all began. And I can’t wait to see where the next ten years take me...

Jimi Hendrix may have a cool connection to Vancouver’s Black history, but as I continue my research for an upcoming story, I’m learning so much about all the other significant people who have helped pave the way for Vancouver’s Black community (both past and present)—despite the community being displaced when the Georgia Viaduct was built back in the late 60s.
I’m excited to see the changes that are coming to revitalize Hogan’s Alley and its historical significance, and through it all, I’m also learning about my African ancestors who may have made a home here in Vancouver back in the day too. 🖤🤎

Thrilled to be sharing my first-ever story for on what was possibly my favourite trip to date. National Geographic has been a dream byline for me since I first became a travel writer (and honestly, probably since I first flipped through the pages of the yellow-framed glossy mag when I was a kid!).
My story takes you along with me on an adventure in Samburu, Kenya, where I tracked black and white rhinos on foot in the wild and learned about the community-run conservation efforts that are keeping these rare species alive and thriving.
