Truly don’t even know where to begin with the nurses I get to work alongside…they are absolute magic. The calm in the chaos, the biggest advocates, the steady hands, the kindest hearts. I get a front row seat to them doing what they do best—bringing babies earth side and holding families through every possible version of that story—and it never, ever gets old.
And yes, sometimes we sneak in a few laughs and fun pics along the way too…because even in the most intense moments, there’s still room for connection and joy 🫶🏼

Five years ago I laid on the same OR table I did just 371 days prior when our sweet Clark was born sleeping, but this time I was delivering his baby brother - our perfect rainbow babe - who came out pink and screaming. And while I laid there watching through the clear drape this little boy being pulled from my belly, I had my camera in my hands and snapped his first picture myself 🥹❤️📸

So hey!! My name is Alex and I’ve been documenting birth stories for nearly 8 years (and capturing families and brand new babes for almost 11!). I may sound like a broken record to some, but I am truly living my dream job. About 5.5 years ago I quit my full time teaching job cold turkey mid-year — one that I had been doing for 11 years (with a masters degree in too!) — to just do this little photography thing…and I have never ever looked back. It was hands-down the scariest leap of faith I’ve ever taken, but it has single-handedly been the best career decision of my life and I am so so so thankful each and every day that I get to call this my occupation. These past 4+ years, with nearly 3 of them filled with COVID restrictions in place, have been oh-so-challenging…but I feel like I am finally back in my groove, having documented 6 birth stories in 2024 already I am just so grateful and SO incredibly thankful to the families that are calling upon me to document their stories and forever memories. When I’m not snapping brand new babes I am a mama to 5 kiddos — 4 here with us (Patrick, Rosie, Annie & Teddy), and 1 looking over us from above (Clark ) — and a wife to a crime scene investigator. We also have a fluffy 6 pound Shorkie, Sunny, who we are all pretty obsessed with too. I am a passionate advocate for the loss community, and I offer my services complimentary to families facing difficult prognoses, much like we did with our sweet boy, of their babies through.
