This week, The Birthing Place (TBPF), founded by Myla Flores, one of our Spring 2026 Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, is hosting a takeover of Anew Café & Goods. You'll find TBPF's signature maternal wellness hub on wheels, the Womb Bus, parked outside all week, accepting donations for parents and guardians in need.

Through pop-up programming across the Bronx, it provides access to services and support including lactation counseling, doula meet-and-greets, acupuncture, STI screenings, counseling, educational workshops, and resource giveaways like prenatal vitamins and diapers.

While the Womb Bus is at Anew, it will be accepting donation drop-off for. They are looking for new and gently used items for parents like clothing, baby carriers, diapers, and more.

Throughout May and June, each of our entrepreneurs will be hosting a pop-up installation in the cafe for one week. Come by and check them out!

The Seasons Change and the earth keeps teaching us. Every seed we plant today is a promise we keep with the future. Every harvest reminds us: what we tend with care, grows.

That’s birth work too.

These images are from 2025 autumn retreat. Being in nature and learning from and our plant friends reminds us how plants hold medicine for every season of life: menarche to menopause, pregnancy to postpartum, grief to joy.

Today we learn about perinatal herbs and get our hands in the earth with Valencia — herbalist, plant teacher, and mentor with Conscious Birth Collective.

The Birthing Place aims to uplift our birthworkers and community to think about reproductive health being beyond clinical. It's reflected in nature. It’s in our gardens, the tea we steep for cramps, the calendula salve for healing. It’s in community, gathered around soil and stories.

We plant. We harvest. We care for each other, through every season 💜

Come through and get sun-kissed on our patio at Maryam for spring planting. And if you can't make it, gaze at treetops and sky today and send us your sweet vibes ✨🪴🎶

Myla Flores of The Birthing Place and has been announced CNN's Champion for Change for her two decades of work serving families in the Bronx and fighting for birth equity. Through The Birthing Place + Foundation, we're en route to building a birth center — the first of its kind in the Bronx — to ensure safe, culturally-centered, and joyful births for Black and Brown families. 💜

A note from Myla:
"I’m humbled and grateful to be recognized as Abby Phillip's Champion for Change. I serve families as my passion, day to day, including today. All the while we have been working very hard to bring the Bronx its birth center. This work is about birth and reproductive justice, and we MUST increase access to individualized, collaborative and compassionate care our community deserves. We're so thankful for the amplification and hope greater exposure will help bring people and resources together to make this vision a reality."
