We were delighted to welcome award-winning photographer ARPS, a Royal Horticultural Society medal winner for Botanical Photography (2021 & 2023), to capture the gardens at their seasonal peak.
Originally from Asia, rhododendrons thrive in acidic woodland soils, which is why they are so often found in and around wooded landscapes. Rhododendron comes from the Greek words “rhodo” meaning rose and “dendron” meaning tree, translating to “rose tree”, a reference to the large shrubs or small trees on which they grow.
Introduced to the UK in the 18th and 19th centuries, they quickly became a favourite of Victorian estate gardens for their dramatic colour and abundance. And even today, they continue to transform the grounds into sweeping drifts of colour.

Compèred by, the evening featured an incredible line-up of Yorkshire talent, with performances from, and, before our headline act,, brought the crowd to its feet as the sun set over the Yorkshire Wolds.
Guests travelled from across the UK, and even Amsterdam, to enjoy champagne in the Long Hall, picnics on the lawn and dancing late into the night in The Old Kitchens.
And when the rain came, so did the dancing! Yorkshire spirit at its finest!

Set within the breathtaking 13,000-acre Birdsall Estate, this is a rare opportunity to ride through parts of the estate not normally open to the public. Expect sweeping views across the Yorkshire Wolds, winding ancient woodland trails, and routes that pass Iron Age monuments and forgotten medieval villages.
Choose your challenge, with routes ranging from a scenic 25km ride to an epic 80km endurance challenge.
Whether you’re a seasoned rider or simply looking for an unforgettable day on two wheels, all abilities are welcome.
