For those who donāt know already, I was born and raised in Germany, left my home country when I was 15 to spend a high school exchange year in Alabama. There, I faced adversity and had to overcome challenges that have shaped who I have become. After I went back to Germany and finished my A levels, I returned to the United States at the age of 18 to become an Au Pair, a live-in nanny. Again, luck was not on my side as one after another obstacle arose and I had to change host families. However, I finally lived with a host family who supported me in all my endeavors and whom I could rely on, no matter the circumstances. After the Au pair program was over, I applied to the Honors College of Westchester Community College where I received a full scholarship to receive my Associate Degree in Liberal Arts Social Sciences. The honors college director instilled a desire in me to reach for the stars and land on the moon. She believed in me when no one else did, so I decided to work harder than I ever thought possible. I had a vision and no one was going to get in the way of that, not even a global pandemic that forced me to be isolated from my family for a year and a half. I also continued working half-time while taking all of my classes on zoom and leading various extracurriculars virtually.
I spent endless of hours working on my transfer applications, but I spent the majority of hours working on my harvard application. I knew I had what it takes to create social change. I was so convinced myself that I was able to convince admission as well and got in! I was ecstatic when I found out I got in! ā¦. (Comments)
