Two years ago, I spent a week at Champneys Forest Mere in early spring, one of the most iconic wellness retreats in the United Kingdom. An exceptional setting, English countryside in all its splendour, a week just for me: massages, yoga, spiritual sessions, and that delicious feeling of truly regenerating.
The website stated that large communal tables would be reserved for solo travellers. Perfect, I love travelling alone AND meeting new people over a good meal. But once I arrived: the concept had been dropped. The reason given: not enough participants.
And yet, every day I counted around 7 solo tables per sitting. 2 to 3 sittings per meal. Dozens of people who would no doubt have loved to share their experiences, learn from one another, and forge connections.
What I experienced there perfectly sums up 2 major trends in wellness travel over recent years: a significant increase in the number of solo travellers, and a growing demand for social activities.
Today, retreats are enjoying growing success. Just because they incorporate these two dimensions, solo and social. They are now even offered during school holiday periods, which was not yet the case just two years ago.
With our lives increasingly demanding, treating ourselves to some time alone can be incredibly beneficial. But social connection is also a source of care. The proof: more and more doctors around the world are prescribing social activities (so-called ‘wellbeing prescriptions’) to improve physical and mental health, through art workshops, choirs, walking groups, and more.
The Hospitality sector has a remarkable card to play here. Not by opposing solo and social experiences, but by ensuring they complement each other, as in any proper holistic approach. The benefits: an additional opportunity to maximise their revenue, ROI, and occupancy rates throughout the year.

There’s something going on with dance… It’s been happening for years now. in 2014, TikTok in 2016, lockdowns in 2020. A deep, instinctive, irrepressible movement of the body choosing dance as its response to confinement, isolation, and anxiety, driven by physiological and neurological necessity.
On every continent, dance teachers and choreographers are becoming global stars. From flashmobs to viral challenges, from Footloose to Dirty Dancing, from Fame to Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, from Singin’ in the Rain to Grease... Dance never truly disappeared. But today, it is becoming a true language of the body in its own right.
I have been observing this surge for several months now, and it reminds me of Gandhi’s peaceful march in 1930, or the ‘Peace & Love’ movement of the 1960s. Those moments in history when humanity chooses grace over violence.
In this chaotic world (hyperconnectivity, information overload, climate, ecological and geopolitical crises), dance is less a reaction, than an instinctive, ancestral response of the body. A vital need to vibrate in unison, to connect, to commune with others, to exult, to break free, to liberate oneself, to feel electric, not through aggression, but through a healthy, grounded, centred, aligned, and conscious aliveness.
So let’s embrace its many benefits!
💃🏻 Neurological: like all physical activity, dance releases dopamine, serotonin and endorphins. Recent research has shown that it creates new neural connections, strengthens memory and slows age-related cognitive decline.
🤸🏻♀️Physical: coordination, balance, mobility, cardiovascular, muscle tone, without it ever feeling like sport or effort.
🕺🏻Psychological: stress regulation, emotional release, reduction of anxiety and depression. A 2025 study confirms that dance is one of the rare practices to act simultaneously on the body, the brain and social connection.
Dance as a collective therapy, a gentle resistance, a bond for survival. Moving to exist. Dancing to heal.

Luxury has been entering a new era: the era of the intangible.
For a long time, the industry was built on a simple model: exceptional objects, made rare, made desirable. But something has deeply shifted.
As far back as 2011, I remember having read with great interest the a human sciences journal published by the CNRS (Les Cahiers Européens de l’Imaginaire, ‘Luxe’ special edition) that was already hinting at the emergence of a new form of luxury, one that was more immaterial, more sensitive, more human.
Today, studies from the international commercial property consultancy JLL confirm it. Hotel transactions surged 22% in 2025, with the hospitality sector now accounting for 8% of total global property investment. This is driven not by profitability per room, but by soul, identity, irreplaceable experience. Investors now openly talk about « emotional assets.”
On the consumer side, the shift is just as clear. Luxury resale is booming, vintage is back, minimalism (from Japanese icon Marie Kondo to French counterpart Marie Quéru) is unapologetic. Today’s luxury customer no longer wants to accumulate. They want to feel.
The new rules:
🦋 Time is the rarest commodity. An exceptional stay, a memorable dinner outweighs yet another product.
🦋 Human connection is the new premium. What stays in memory long after the object is forgotten.
🦋 Nature, care and presence are the growing luxuries.
The luxury of tomorrow is about experience. Brands and sectors who have understood this are already reshaping the market.
☎️ If this resonates, let’s connect. I support visionary leaders and brands committed to making wellbeing an elegant driver of transformation and sustainable regeneration.

$548 billion… That is the size of the global wellness real estate market in 2024, according to the Global Wellness Institute.
And this is just the beginning.
The GWI has recently published two reports that are changing the way we think about buildings: 13 real-world case studies (USA and UK) and the 2025 micro-trends from which two initiatives dedicated to architecture and real estate.
What this means in practical terms: housing designed with health in mind generates a premium of 10 to 25% in the residential sector, and 4.4 to 7.7% in the commercial property sector. Less absenteeism, more loyal tenants, and improved cognitive performance.
Trends on the rise in 2025: neuro-architecture (designing with the human brain in mind), ‘smart wellbeing’ homes (AI, sensors, air quality, lighting, social connections), regenerative development (going beyond sustainability), and harmonious, quiet architecture (acoustics, natural materials, wave-free spaces).
The conviction behind all this: we spend 90% of our lives in buildings. So they might as well do us good.

Around 2020, just as Wellness was beginning to emerge from its niche (the one I’d been immersed in since 2015 when I launched #thespaeditorialist on Instagram), I had a strong conviction: the next big wave in wellness wouldn’t be purely physical or mental. It would be spiritual, esoteric, ‘woo-woo’.
Astrology, shamanism, lunar rituals, energy work, aura readings… what many still called « fringe », I already saw as the natural, almost inevitable, extension of the wellness trend in Hospitality and Spa.
And today? The figures and the experts confirm what my intuition had told me.
The latest UK census identifies shamanism as the fastest-growing belief system. Astrology is making a strong comeback. The “spiritual but not religious” trend is booming on social media. Hotels such as The Mandrake in London now offer a Spiritual Wellness Concierge, Reiki and Sound Healing sessions as part of their weekly programme. And the Global Wellness Institute’s 2025 micro-trends report is clear: the demand for deeper meaning and embodied spirituality is set to skyrocket.
It is no longer a curiosity. It is an expectation.
This is exactly what I offer in my consultancy work: designing and facilitating holistic wellbeing retreats that integrate this ‘woo-woo’ dimension authentically, safely and deeply transformatively.
Because the soul, too, needs hospitality.

A common misunderstanding. Yet the distinction makes all the difference.
Wellness refers to all the practices involved in looking after one’s health: diet, sleep, meditation, yoga, forest bathing, breathwork… Gentle, slow, restorative practices that are essential.
Wellbeing is broader, more holistic. It is the state of feeling good about one’s life, overall. This includes wellness, but also job satisfaction, social connections, financial stability, a sense of belonging to a community, a sense of purpose, and above all, what nourishes our deep joy. For some, it’s a swimming, boxing, motor racing or kitesurfing that releases all our endorphins. For others, it’s painting, dancing or playing music. Wellbeing doesn’t mean slowing down at all costs; above all, it requires knowing how to listen to yourself.
✨
So, Wellness or Wellbeing? This is a distinction that now needs to be taken into account within the hospitality sector, as well as among HR professionals, managers and executives. If your wellbeing programmes only offer yoga, fitness, massages, and meditation, you may only be meeting the needs of 40% of your customers or staff.
Now more than ever, wellbeing requires a diverse, inclusive approach that focuses on the individual, not on trends!
And for you, in your teams or in your own life, what form does wellbeing take?
