Exposition m³ de déchets hautement radioactifs (DHA) - produits par quelques humains en un temps record. Ces DHA émentent des rayonnements mortels qui se perpétueront pour les futures générations. Le gouvernement de RFA cherche un site de stockage souterrain définitif, censé protéger l’humanité de ces déchets pour un million d’années.

Un million d’années. Une période couvrant un futur très lointain de notre espèce, comparable aux ordres de grandeur de l’évolution. Il sera impératif de communiquer sur ce laps de temps, le site et les dépôts.

Par cette quête actuelle d’un stockage définitif, les déchets nucléaires appartiennent désormais à notre patrimoine moderne - un patrimoine culturel qui met au défi nos valeurs sociétales et nos responsabilités. En favorisant pas seulement des solutions techniques, mais aussi de nouvelles formes d’engagement politique et de résistance contre les prétentions courantes d’aucuns.

Die deutsche Bundesregierung sucht ein unterirdisches Endlager, das die Menschheit eine Million Jahre lang vor diesem Atommüll schützen soll.

Eine Million Jahre. Das ist ein Zeitraum, der weit in die Zukunft der Menschheit reicht und mit evolutionären Größenordnungen vergleichbar ist. Es wird notwendig sein über diese Zeitspanne den Ort und seinen Inhalt zu kommunizieren.

Die Suche nach einem Endlager, das in der Lage ist, tödlich strahlenden Abfall über einen Zeitraum zu bewahren, der jenseits der menschlichen Vorstellungskraft liegt, erscheint absurd. Die Lagerung von Abfällen unterhalb der Erdoberfläche stellt eine paradoxe Rückführung von Ressourcen dar. Im Sinne des Extraktivismus offenbart er das menschliche Verständnis des Planeten Erde als Lagerstätte.
